As a young kid in the early 60s, we routinely had spam, margarine, velveeta cheese, wonder bread. All the things that Michael Pollan so aptly calls “edible, food-like substances”. And we loved them. The joke on us was when we went to visit our grandmother (who was born in Europe and ate real food), we turned up our noses. Oh no, not that cheese with the holes in it!! :eek:

The latest: I think that bottled water is not a scam but provides better security than reusable tap water bottle

I just find it annoying when people look at people drinking bottled water and going “haha look at the idiotic millennials haha they probably think they’re drinking magical space water or something haha idiots it’s the same as tall water haha.” and the rest of that.

More delightful info:

I see people complaint and mocking “clueless sheep” on the internet all the time because they are drinking bottled water. Then you have the smart internet people who pride themselves on knowing that bottled water is actually just plain water and not magic space water and therefore they don’t drink it and everyone who does drink bottles water is an idiot.

JohnClay was at it for much longer.

And in fairness, JohnClay appeared to have more severe mental issues. The topic ban was more to protect him from himself.

Malleus, Incus, Stapes!, JohnClay was a poster a few years ago with no boundaries. He posted very personal information about himself and his wife, and returned to the same topics ad nauseam (his weight, his relationship with his wife, etc.).

It was more of an homage to the Deep Thoughts segment from SNL (and apparently still alive and well online). No actual thinking has been done in the making of those threads.
