Being in radio I am often given chances to hear “the next big thing” before it runs on the air. I am sure all of you Euro-Dopers are familiar with Mr. Davids work, but he has not been able to creep into the American airwaves quite yet. I was very impressed with his album. Today we here in Knoxville will begin to play “Fill Me In”. I think its gonna be a hit with the Yanks. Anyone from the other side of the big pond a Craig David fan ? Got any good inside stuff on the man ? Anyone else here in the US of A familiar with this song or heard it anywhere yet ?
The video for “Fill Me In” has been playing pretty regularly on VH1 for the better part of a month now. They also showed at least part of a concert the other night. I don’t know if it was an entire program about him or not; I only caught the last bit.
I have his cd. I’m in FL… MY boyfriend was up late one nite and saw his video air on MTV. He liked what he heard/saw so we went to Napster and downloaded his stuff to see how it was. Liked it so much that we burned a cd. I would have bought it (maybe) But we already had the songs!
Anybody who feels the need to quote their own name in a song in some sad pathetic attempt at increased recognition should be shot squarely in the forehead. I hate him. With a Passion.
::runs away, hands over ears, screaming to get Craig David lyrics from his head::
I was in Edinburgh when the Brit Awards were happening. The nearest I could tell, it was a ceremony like the Grammys, just not as serious, more like the American Music Awards. Anyhow, they were expecting Craig David to win several awards, but Robbie Williams came and walked away with just about every award they were both up for. Needless to say, Craig is HUGE over there.
Personally, I’m not too crazy about him. Not into the whole R&B/Pop thing.
[hijack] NothingMan, what station are you working with? I lived in K-town for several years. Just curious.

craig david started off doing vocals in some UK garage track, as i recall. now he’s in the whole R&B pop type thing.
never have i heard any song by craig david that i could listen all the way through. in my opinion, he is dire, and his music is trashy, indistinguished but unfortunately not instantly forgettable. it tends to stick in your head like these thing usually do.
but, that said, he’ll probably do well over in the states. hes done well enough over here in the UK. i guess some people must like him.
I’m not a fan of his either, but I don’t think he’s that bad, compared to a lot of the shite the kids are listening to these days. Better him than Westlife, S Club 7 or Billie Piper, I’d say.
Sadly, yes. And for the first time in my life, there’s an entire genre of music I just don’t like (garage) – including Craig David. That makes me feel even older.
you don’t like any garage ‘music’? well, don’t feel old. i’m 18, i hate all garage too. unlike, for some reasom i cannot fathom, 90% of people my age. i just hold the opinion that they’re sheep, following the latest fashion with no thought about how worthwhile it really is.
just feel assured that you have a discerning music taste.
Its a brand new station - “Mix 106.7”.
Been here in Knoxville for a little over two months now and I have to say I really like it so far.
Thanks for all the Craig David info, I was curious to see just how known he was in the States - seems a small segment have heard of him.
