"Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.
“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.
He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.
Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell “kill him.”
“We have yet to find someone to back up the story,” Slavoski said. “We had people all over and we have yet to find anyone who said they heard it.”

In other words, if you take the SDMB at its worst (ie., DT, after 8 years of Bush), it matches FP at what would presumably be its mildest (the general consensus, after 8 years of “their guy”). In any case, if you go back and read that “Obama killed his granny” thread there, you’ll see that the number of people calling out other posters for the shit they’re spewing is perhaps 1 in 10. More, if you assume that most of the deleted posts are in agreement with the theory.
Whenever somebody says something really fucked up here, it’s generally pretty close to 50/50 agreement and disgust.
The fact, though, that someone would even START such a thread, and it wouldn’t immediately be locked for trolling says something something about the quality of the discussion over there.

I don’t think it signifies that Veb is “a former moderator”. They don’t let you take your jackboots into retirement with you. That said, yes, I’ve seen the stuff about Bricker, and if you go back to those threads you’ll find me and others saying “shut the fuck up”.
That depends on who you define as “the opposition”. Shodan gets treated poorly, but then Shodan says stupid things. Bricker is usually treated relatively well; there’s been a bunch of anti-Bricker stuff lately, but that has a lot to do with his gloating thread, as you well know. Normally, people are lining up to suck his rhetorical dick, much the way they do Sam Stone’s.
