I was perusing Snopes when I found this Urban Legend:

The Washington Redskins have proved to be a time-tested election predictor. In the previous 15 elections, if the Washington Redskins have lost their last home game prior to the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. When they have won, the incumbent has stayed in power.

Surprisingly, the status is “True.” Since 1936 if the Washington Redskins won their last home game before the Presidential election, the incumbent party remained in power. If they lost, the challenger won the White House.

Coincidence? Of course. But I’ll still be supporting Green Bay on 31 October.

Let me tell you, as bad as Green Bay looks so far this year, the Redskins look worse. Who knows though, maybe Dick Cheney will give them an inspiring halftime speech and they’ll walk all over the Pack.
