Only Chjevies as far as I know.
Oh, my gosh. That’s a lot. I hope you’re able to manage. My aunt had MS diagnosed in her 40s and lived 40+ years after diagnosis.
Burgers were good. Dishes are washing. Daughter and SIL’s closing may slip - there’s a patio door and several windows that need to be repaired/replaced, and due to their odd sizes, they have to be custom made. And thanks to the plague, there are lots of delays. We shall see how it plays out.
Always something.
Short sort today. A certain feline glued herself to my sternum, and forced me to nap when I got home. I’ve never been to the Smithsonian, but there a metric butt load of good museums in the Raleigh area.
You’re welcome!
{{{{Sunny}}}} And definitely research and push. You’re your best advocate. And glad daughter is out.
Flyboy, that sucks about the shirt company. And I like aloha shirts, too.
A toilet-tree?
Done with Monday. Skimmed. Retained a little.
{{hugs}} to Our Sunny.
doggio, I like the natural history museum in Raleigh. My favorite part is the blue whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling. You never realize how big the biggest animal in the world is until you walk a loooooooooooong way down it’s spine.
Y’all are making me miss D.C. I love that city and I want to go back so bad. I wanted to go back as I was leaving in January. Don’t wanna live there, just like visiting.
I do want to share the greatest picture in the National Gallery of Art: Dat Horse.
Hope your eye doctor appointment went fine nellie. That fire sounds terrible. I feel for the folks who lost their homes.
shoe, I bought a 10a last summer and it works for me. The only reason that I replaced my S4 was that it didn’t talk to my car consistently.
{{{sunny and sunbeam}}}
I’ve been to Washington DC twice in my life, once in high school and once a few years with a friend who is a Vietnam vet, We saw the monuments on the mall (the wall hadn’t been built yet then), toured the capitol, the WH and spent a day in the Smithsonian. My friend and I spent most of our time at the wall, but did go to the Smithsonian for two days. I could spend two weeks there and still not see everything that I want to see. But then again, I could do that in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago too and I’ve been there many more times (growing up in northern Indiana, it was a field trip destination many times).
It hit triple digits here today before the clouds broke and drenched Nelson and me on our walk. It did lower the temp about 15 degrees though.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
The appointment went OK. I have uveitis–basically inflammation somewhere behind the cornea. I’ve had this and iritis before, though until recently, there’d been a long gap. Again, it’s basically lupus stirring up trouble again, but it’s led to corneal graft rejection. So the doc bumped me back up on the prednisone drops and basically said I’d be on 4 drops a day for at least the next month.
But that’s nothing compared to sunny’s news. That must have been a jolt. I’m sorry you got that news but am hopeful it’ll turn out to be a mild version of it. Sending good health vibes to you and daughter. Also, holy moly, $1700 to register a car?! Glad you had the Oregon option.
wordy, I know what you mean. That rapid yo-yoing from child-to-adolescent would give anyone whiplash. My HS students loved stickers and fast cars, cartoons and keggers, lollipops and formal dances. Having one foot in childhood must be a comforting thing.
Does anyone know how baker is doing? And dot? Seems like it’s been awhile since we’ve heard from either one.
It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring!
Nikki is sitting in the opened door with a very disapproving gaze.
I washed some dishes, chatted with my former I.T. Guy, and fixed a snack. OMG so bored. My entertainment options are
- Keep unpacking my crap
- Watch TV
- Set up another rat tub
… and OMG I am bored to tears of all of them!
Oh, and I have to share:
It’s been stressing me out that my roasting pan is too big to fit in the sink.
It’s also absolutely pouring outside.
. . .
Yes. Yes, I did.
Don’t judge me.
I set my roasting pan outside for Mother Nature to wash for me.
She’ll scour it, too - it’s truly sheeting out there.
ETA: I’ll wash it ferrealz with detergent, of course. But that’s, like, a final rinse.
Howdy Y’all! The storm went away so I went to a loooooooooooooong Vestry meetin’. Productive, however. We shall officially start up services this Sunday. Two services lastin’ thirty-five to forty minutes, no more than fifty people allowed in each one. Masks are mandatory and the church will be sanitized between the services. There’s stuff one sprays and it takes sump’n like ten minutes for the droplets to dissipate as I understand it. So we’ll get started, see what happens and adjust from there. There’s other stuff as well but I won’t bore with the detaills.
{{{Sunny}}} at least now you have a diagnosis. Like others have said keep fightin’ for yourself. You are your best advocate. Glad daughter is out of the horsepistol and doin’ better.
nellie glad the eye appointment went OK.
Now I shall get myself a snack cause I’s hongry and watch me some teevee.
Evening all. Not much accomplished, am finishing my on-line book this evening so that has kept me busy. Allowed the Burger King to cater dinner, so will be eating in for the next few days.
{{{Sunny}}}, that had to be a bit of a shock, but treatments are much more advanced these days…and having the kid out of the hospital and dogs cuddling you will help. Along with saving about $1,600 dollars.
nellie, I think I’m going to check in and make an eye appointment if the place is open for business. No problems, but it’s been 2 years and best find things before they become a problem. And long-distant {{ }} to all the folks made homeless. And you say arrest so it might have been arson (thinks about inappropriate bad things to do to possible arsonist)
swampy, sounds like your church is doing things the right way. May all places opening up do the same…
Red, Science and Industry, Alder Planetarium, Art Museum, Shedd Aquarium…yeah, if you can’t make DC, Chi-town is a good alternative.
Butters, wordy, make it three who hated hiring/evaluations. Only had to do it for a short time, but the US Government doesn’t make it easy to do either… And wordy, I coach 10-11 year old girls who are just on the edge of puberty, so I think I understand.
Cookie, glad the freezer arrived.
Bumba, nice to see someone else runs on a weekly plan…even if I don’t keep up with it…
Nut, know what you mean, I have been more than 30 miles from my house this year yet, my usual 18-20 day mega-vacation is gone. Just hope there’s a vaccine come 2022, there’s a couple trips I really want to take.
To everyone else, hugs, smiles and happy thoughts…no time for any negative waves today.
Catch y’all 2day…now to finish the last 30 pages…
We had leftover spaghetti and a salad I threw together. It will get us by until the next one.
I finished the evals. I just have to print them, go over them with the employees and get the signature of the new Director. That will probably be the toughest one.
I also cleaned the kitchen, did two loads of laundry, bathed the dog and myself. I am tahred.
Sunny it took them long enough to finally diagnose you. Are you confident that is the final answer? Like everyone else here I wish you a mild case and a treatment that works. Hugs to you.
Hubby was supposed to see the surgeon last week but his appt was rescheduled due to the ECHO disc not being ready. Seems like it would be stored on a computer at his fingertips but what do I know? Anyway, new appt is Sept 3rd. If at all possible I really want to go otherwise it’s like pulling teeth to get the lowdown. Hubs will just mumble whatever leaving me to try to parse it. It’s just better if I go.
I guess I will know tomorrow when I shall go back to irk for half days. What a long strange trip it has been.
Happy new week all.
Dinner: About four ounces of leftover restaurant steak, 2 over-easy eggs, some cashews, and wine. Mrs. L.A. had leftover steak-on-the-barbie, 2 over-easy eggs, toast, and wine. The rib-eyes I made last night were more tender and flavourful than my restaurant steak, but the restaurant steak was pretty good. (I’ll have the rest of last night’s rib-eye eventually.)
Please forgive me if I sound preachy. I am not saying this from some mountaintop. Eye exams are so easy to put off if you’re seeing well. But they not only help keep your eyes healthy; they can find health problems like diabetes, high cholesterol, auto-immune disorders, some forms of cancer that aren’t related to your eyes even before your GP spots them.
I care about all of you. I really do. Please get those peepers checked on the regular.
I am due for an eye dr appt and probably new glasses. I shall make that appointment tomorrow. And a dentist appt for cleaning.
I sent a PM to Dots with no response. I really hope she is just busy with other stuff. I haven’t seen Baker either lately. Come on Mumpers and check in.
Butters I have medium confidence that it’s the right diagnosis. They seem very clear about it. I just haven’t gotten much in the way of a helpful diagnosis 8 years into this, so I dunno. I guess we’ll see. If you can’t get go with your husband for any reason, make him dial you in and put you on speaker phone (or Zoom). I agree that Husbands can be less than communicative about medical stuff.
Also, thank you for the well wishes everyone.
Tonight’s fun: They are bug spraying due to EEE being detected. Have already heard a low prop plane twice now.
Why is it that whenever I solve one computer problem, another one comes along right afterward? All I want is to have enough hard drive space to use backups so I don’t go through another horrible loss of everything after a crash, I buy a USB hub, and what happens? Not only does the hub not work, it seems to have fried the USB port I plugged it into.
Argh!
You might also want to check Lyft. Based on recent experience (solely as a passenger), Lyft cars are quite clean, the same trip costs several dollars less, and Lyft has tougher driver background checks, which makes me feel safer with them than with Uber (this last comes from people who’ve driven for both).
Moanday was definitely Moanday. Overslept (my own fault, I mis-set the alarm), then it took longer than I consider typical to get a Lyft ride, so I was 15min late. Sup was not terribly amused when I called (she was a bit mellower when I talked to her later in the day), but then at least 1/3 of our team was out and it seemed about the same on other teams. Good thing it wasn’t crazy-busy today, but like the “drivers” in this area, the callers seemed to feel a need to step up their game to make sure the ambient level of stupid/crazy remained constant.
I’m also neurosing (if that’s not a word, it should be!) about a couple of new scare-bugs reported in China recently, and the potential for supply issues again.
Walmart’s frozen pizza section is catering tonight. DH and I were not going to agree, so we each chose one of our own. DH is having Hawaiian, which I dislike (I do not care for combining sweet and meat), I’m having chicken/bacon/ranch stuffed crust (DH doesn’t like ranch).
