On this date in the MMP

Count on it, that’s one check-up I never put off.

{{{Sunny}}} will be in it for the long haul with you.

I’ll be more talkative tomorrow-brain resting after matching wits with the 3yo grandgirl yesterday. She won.

Boo

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort.

And Facebook has let me know OTD I got to meet Ruble in Pittsburgh, rosie in Lawn Guyland, and it’s DottyGumDrop’s birthday. I have a sad.

Up, caffeinated, awake-ish, and getting ready for a 16-hour day at the polls…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 93 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for the day. We shall see. Today is laundry day. Woo and Hoo! Other than that no real plans at all. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy. Much sloth shall ensue.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s slightly cooler here today but the promised thunderstorms never materialised yesterday and I don’t see any sign that there was overnight rain either. My phone says it’s 72F out there so I’ll wait and see if it changes before I decide whether or not to brave a spin class tonight. Got some new gym leggings delivered last night so am looking forward to giving them an outing.

Doggio, that would be enough to give us all a sad, I miss both Kopek and rosie, and still see DottyGumDrop’s name in my farcebook list. I hope her beautiful girls are doing well, wish I knew how they’d turned out.

Busy day today, I have icky spreadsheets to look at for timetabling and I’m still not entirely sure what I’m supposed to do with them. I will start by reading the guidance docs and see if they make sense, then contact the academics involved and see what help they need. then I might be able to ignore them for a while!

I’ll make tea first, that’s always a good idea.

I am fortunate to have good insurance for eye exams, so I go annually. So far, apart from seeing the world fuzzily without my specs, the only issue pending is cataracts. Doc said surgery is still a few years out, but I’m in early stages. My mom had the surgery fairly recently, but I think mine will come sooner in life (she was in her 80s - I may need mine by 70.) In any event, I get new glasses every year for minimal cost, and I really like my current pair.

Today’s plan - grocerying! Daughter’s friends arrived during Jeopardy last night and I think they’re staying thru Sunday, but I’m not positive. I pulled a meatloaf out to thaw for supper, and I’ll be getting assorted sides while out and about.

I think the road repair around the corner is finally done - I’ll find out for sure when I take my walk and see whether the signs are still out on Rt 5. The detour doesn’t go greatly out of my way, but it is a minor annoyance - so much so that I’ve been going to Charlotte Hall rather than Leonardtown, since the detour makes the places equi-distant but CH is a bit more direct. So after I walk, I’ll make a list and head out.

Long-range forecast has us cooling down starting in about 3 days. We’ll be having highs in the low 80s, then lows in the 60s - that’s window-opening temps, at least at night! Huzzah! Autumn approacheth!

Happy Tuesday!

@nelliebly Don’t forget glaucoma testing. I see my ophthalmologist twice a year to monitor my glaucoma

I don’t understand how anyone can bother to get upset these days about someone being 15 mins late. Is that her way of pretending life is normal so she can whine about trivialities? She’s lucky you are there at all.

I woke up at 4:00 am in a screaming writhing panic attack. I was still really sleepy and desperately wanted to sleep some more, but the gathering storm would not permit. I put off taking a xanax as long as possible but had to give in. Sorry. Y’all can always count on me for a downer of a post.

Maybe I’ll try to take a nap now.

{{Thel}}. As far as I am aware, never had a panic attack but I have heard enough about them to know they are not fun. Take care.

FCM, cooling here means highs of 88F instead of 93F by next week. Not a great improvement.

Boo fae, by the time the academics ‘help’ you with the spreadsheet, you may have graduated from tea to bourbon…

nettie, DH doesn’t like ranch? Heck, even I, the most fussy eater in the Western Hemisphere, likes ranch…

Bat Boy!!. Been awhile. And in answer to your question, it is the nature of computers to become like their creators…

Alien, had to look up EEE–you mean the horses are out to get us now??

nellie, OK, OK, I’ll go see the eye doc today and set up an appointment.

Butters, Sunny, I’m single but given my Mom’s and SIL’s experiences, I concur that husbands won’t ask the questions that the wives will. Hope he does OK, Butters.

Whew!! Tired out just reading and typing all that. Not much on the schedule (except making the eye doc appointment) and the house does need some cleaning, so…back to readin’ and internettin’.

All y’all take care.

I think we’re canning about 40 pounds of peaches today, so that’s probably all that will get done for our Tuesday.

Yesterday, we went to pick up a gallon of paint for the basement. The paint store happens to be near the best cheese steak place in the city, so it would have been criminal not to order some takeout. First one in six months, and it sure tasted great.

Watched the first episode of the new Perry Mason series on HBO last night. Very noir, but pretty good.

Nah–the skeeters are out to get us AND horses…

Made the 115-mile commute to the orifice today. Three bad dreams last night. The first one, I dreamt I wrecked my car. I don’t remember if I was driving, or if someone hit it while it was parked. The second dream, I was minutes away from being executed by hanging. The third dream, I was present while someone was being executed by lethal injection.

Marie Antoinette, when told the peasants had no bread, replied, “Let them eat brioche.”

Did some serious grocerying - Aldi, then Food Lion, then the Amish market - so we have much food. And I was thrilled to see that Aldi had cherries! I thought the season was over, but not quite yet! YUM!!

This afternoon’s plans include making a cuke-onion salad for tomorrow, cleaning the strawberries I bought, cutting up veggies for tonight, and a run to Lowe’s for a mini-fridge that FCD bought for his office. So mostly domestical.

Up, reading MMP and enjoying the company. First infusion of caffeine is inches away but a cat is on my lap so I can’t move to reach for the mug. That’s Cat Law, humans may not move if a member of The Greatest Species does not wish it. I have 3 so I drink a lot of cups of cold coffee.

Mornin’ . Barely.

BBBoo - you’re too nice. I’ve been known to lift a cat that was sleeping where I wanted to sit. He’d be pissed off till he resettled himself in my lap. Then he’d be pissed again when I’d have to get up.

Face it, cats are either sleeping or pissed off!

Or hacking up hair balls in the clean laundry basket…

Boo

I mean, they will go out of their way to leave it in a laundry basket. I think it must be a gesture of disdain.

BTW, it’s 90 minutes later and that cup of coffee is untouched and must be stone cold. The legs forming my lap have fallen asleep. I’m starting to get scared about needing to pee.

Happy Toosday!

Hot outside, 90 degrees, with alternating sun and clouds.

I had to leave the park earlier than I wanted this morning. Toby came, and he is totally enamored of Echo. Echo is not so enamored of Toby.
But we had a good bunch there and everybody got in a lot of running and playing, so my two were pretty tired when we left anyway.

I spent yesterday afternoon and this morning applying for a permit for a fence. The written part of the form was easy, the ‘to scale’ drawing was not. They sent me a copy of the tax map of my house, in which my house was about an inch wide. I had to enlarge it several times. It took more than a few sheets of paper to get something that was close to representative and legible. So I wrote a whole page of description on the back.
It’s been submitted and paid for, it can take 5-7 business days to get approval.

I, or the lawn guy, have to call Miss Utility too. I KNOW there is nothing back there because last summer all the gas, electrical, and plumbing lines were redone and they are all out front. I don’t have to get a survey, only a problem if there is a dispute with the neighbor. I suppose out of politeness I should tell my neighbor I’m putting in a fence, but I hardly ever see her.

In this weather, I hardly ever see my cat. He comes in every morning for his pill and treats, sometimes he’ll go sleep on my bed, but most days he heads right back outside. He does get a bit pissed when my son gives him his pill. He only gives him 3-4 treats, I give him 9-10. Adam doesn’t like being short changed on treats, so I’ll get ‘the look’. He will give my son ‘the look’, but my son doesn’t care.

Going to take my neighbor to the pharmacy in a bit.
The dogs are going to flip out because I’ll be leaving without them.
Too bad, it’s hot outside. I took them to the park yesterday afternoon and they were miserable in the heat, yet they’ll still want to go again today.

The tenants are moving out of our Oregon house. He’s got a job up at OHSI (they’re both medical professionals). I’m happy for them, but sad for us. They’ve been good tenants. Since they’re leaving, I’ve been looking into various repairs and maintenance. We’ve got hardiplank siding, but the fascia boards need repainting. The quote came back for about $5000, which is about a third more than I expected. There was also a separate quote, which I think is for repainting the whole house. That one is $8000. The whole point of hardiplank is not to repaint the whole house. I am calling to find out what’s going on. We’ll get through this, but I’m fretting anyway. I don’t have $11k right now.

Other than that, 'Beamette is still feeling poorly. I had hoped for some improvement by now.

I guess the short version is that I’m feeling overwhelmed and want to scream and run in circles.

Dinner, I think, will be zuccini noodles with spaghetti sauce (with mushrooms and ground turkey).
