On this date in the MMP

I shall join you. And I expect we will quickly attract a (socially-distanced) crowd of like-minded individuals.

Trader Joe’s is only a few miles away in West Seattle. Unfortunately, the West Seattle Bridge is closed. The low bridge, the entry to which is right outside of the orifice, is restricted to transit and commercial vehicles (and motorcycles). I made it across OK, but there were cops at the other end. On the way back, I had to take West Marginal Way to get to the 1st Street Bridge. Traffic was stopped for a mile or two, so I thought I’d go around it, make a right, and make a U-turn. Somehow I got turned around – and my phone decided it couldn’t find a GPS signal. I was in Tukwila before I found the 5.

The whole trip took me an hour. But at least I have my TJ’s Cobb salad.

I will be first in line to join the crowd. You’ll be able to recognize me, I’ll have my mask on. The one with kitty-cat whiskers drawn on it in Sharpie.

Back from Lowe’s - FCD now has a mini-fridge with freezer for his shop and I have a bag of dirt for planting my herbs. Life is good!
Shortly, I will pop the meatloaf into the oven and start to cut up the fresh green beans and the 'shrooms and onions for supper. Then peel and chunk up the N.O.T.s… and we have to put a leaf into the table to accommodate 7 of us.

Good times.

In case anyone was wondering, the Cat Law vs hot cup of caffeine stand-off lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. Nuked the coffee. Finally made a fresh hot mug ‘o java, headed for the couch and the same cat is now circling me, waiting to leap onto my lap so he can enjoy my yowl as the steaming coffee hits my lap.

That’s my day so far. My housemate and I are heading to the grocery store soon to do contactless pickup, after first snatching up my reserved hot-off-the-presses book at the library (again, contactless).

Boy, howdy, the excitement.

Boo

Afternoon all. I now have an 0930 appointment Thorsday the 13th with the Eye Dr. Also mailed the phone/internet bill and put the dishes away, so my quota of adult behavior has been met. Clouds are about but no raindrops to be seen, and it 93F outside…

Boo, you need to learn how to drink coffee faster.

flyboy, I much of the route information doesn’t mean much to me in N. Ali-bama, but the Highway department(s) making things tough is something we all can sympathize with. Hope the salad was good.

I don’t do screaming and running in circles, but I’d gladly take you both to the countryside where you could do it in peace…

Sunny, a second (or even third) estimate seems to be in order.

Sari, dogs have the ability to wipe their memory selectively–they can remember when they usually go to the park but completely forget if they were miserable doing it. Many humans exhibit the same trait…

OK, need to check e-mail and maybe make a couple gallons of Cherry Kool-Aid. All y’all take care.

You forgot “biting.”

Sunny, I’ll be with you. I’m the one wearing a blue mask with a yellow beaver on the outside and the state seal on the inside.

Sunny, I guess it’s good that you got a diagnosis finally, but sorry it’s MS. Also, $5k for painting fascias is way too much.

Went to the doc. I’m doing good, but getting older. Some of my newer problems, like bruising easily, are just part of aging, he says. Changed one of my meds to try to alleviate some of the constant diarrhea. :crossed_fingers:t4:

Stopped at Safeway to get Wifey some mocha mix and spent ~$22. Remember what I said about things leaping into my cart? Then stopped at Bi-mart and spent another I-don-wanna-talk-about-it dollars. (LED shop lights were $10 off.)

Finally made it home, without the storage rack I meant to get. But I got bird seed. :+1:t4:

Ribs for dinner tonight. I got some tater salad to go with.

Sari, you need a permit for a fence?

Suzy, i like your mask.

So last week’s MMP can stay properly dormant…

My deviled eggs recipe is Gulden’s brown mustard and just enough mayo to make it creamy.

Someone mentioned avocados in bedeviled eggs. A recipe I’ve seen is to add the mashed flesh of alligator pears to the yolks with the hopes that the filling is green. If not, you can add a drop or two of food coloring. Meanwhile, the halved eggwhites have been soaking in beet juice or water with purple food coloring. Spooky! :jack_o_lantern:

Howdy Y’all! We laundered, napped, and in general have been slugs all day. Sloths would be impressed with our slothiness! We supped on leftovers. All the promised rain has yet to get here but ‘tis cloudy with far off thunder rumbles so we may yet get rained upon. Oh, and I sent out an email to the Vestry askin’ for input on sanitizin’ the church between services. We can get the stuff one sprays that takes about fifteen minutes to dissipate, or we can do a wipe down with disinfectant wipes between the services. I’m sure the spray disinfectant (why is that such a hard word to spell!) is most effective IMO, but a wipe down would probably be better timewise. What a weird problem to have and resolve!

Sunny those estimates sound way high to me.

Bumba you’re gettin’ older is one of my doc’s favorite diagnosis. :older_man:

I get an eye exam once a year. Like MOOOOOOM I am developin’ cataracts but surgery is still several years out. I can deal with that.

Almost always, especially if it’s at a property line and/or higher than six feet.

As for painting - I bought a paint sprayer yesterday , part of my plan to change the color of my house. Even if I use the sprayer once and throw it away, it’s thousands of dollars less than painters.

I’m here. Another day spent largely on the phone. One long call was from my nephew, who has severe OCD. He has a therapist, but he needs someone to help steer and push him. His mom is too sweet and far too anxious right now, so that’s where I come in. He’s probably going to lose his job soon, and he has no contingency plan, nor any desire to have one. It’s like pushing water uphill, but he has few friends, and I’m happy to help.

I did get a break and got my hair trimmed. Why is it when my hair looks fabulous, I have nowhere to go?

And I just got a gift of two gorgeous masks in the mail from a friend who’s a wonderful seamstress. They’re beautifully made and are designed to fit to the face for better protection. I’m really touched.

sunny, I wish life would quit handing you tough stuff when you already have a plateful of it. As my mom used to say when frustrated, “Too much is enough!”

metalmouse, big virtual hugs and high fives for setting up an eye appointment!

flyboy, those sound like awful dreams. Your subconscious sure had a theme going there.

Mom and Swampy, did I miss the Meatloaf Week memo? I love meatloaf. I’m having chicken fajitas for dinner. I made enough last night for two nights.

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE
While I was leaving work today, I saw a guy getting sacked(If a supervisor keeps telling some one “Have a nice day now” and the dude in the Caddy yells “Mother fucker”, Caddy guy either got fired, or an involuntary promotion to supervisor. ). And there were a bunch of Noobs leaving at the same time I was. Ah, there carefree days of…: looks at calendar : one month ago. But I went and replaced my wireless keyboard and mouse, since the mouse was DOA, and Alex Catt spilled a glass of water on the keyboard. Ahhhhhh…fresh keyboard sound.

Thel, having had a steroid induced panic attack once, {{{{hugs}}}}

And red and Spidey, thank you for continuing to be live Mumpers I’ve met.

Good on you for helping staff the polling place herald. That’s something my mom always did before she became too disabled to do it and Dad did for a few years after his retirement.

metal mouse, while it doesn’t gag me, I’m no fan of ranch dressing. It always reminded me somehow of thrown together food. BTW, I’m getting pretty much the same weather as you next week.

I get two eye exams a year, down from five a year a few years back. I see the retinopathist once (at one point, it was four times) a year and the optometrist once. Given that I have diabetic retinopathy, the beginning of a cataract and some macular degeneration, I try to keep tabs on my vision. My mother and grandmother both died blind from these conditions. They tended to neglect things like checkups, sometimes because of finances, sometimes because they were stubborn. With regular checkups and todays medical advances, I hope to break that legacy.

Irked, came home, swept the floors, walked the dog and et. Fixing to do some cleanup in the studio this evening.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

(Putting on my Covid-19 Supervisor hat…the things you learn and become when trying to keep a hair salon open)

Do you have a sufficient and dependable supply of wipes? It’s been in the news that Clorox is out of the wipe material and doesn’t expect to have more by the end of the year. Check the label on whatever wipes you have - the can of Clorox wipes I have say to use enough wipes to ensure the surface stays visibly wet for four minutes, which means you need to stick around and keep wiping, ideally with fresh wipes. We also have some dental-grade wipes that need less wet time, but they’re not easily available to the public.

The other option is spray - we’re using Essential’s “Neutral Germicidal Cleaner” and this stuff needs 10 minutes wet time.

What exactly are you looking to disinfect? Wood pews? Chairs with vinyl or cloth cushions? And have you configured things so people don’t really need to touch anything other than what they sit on?

yeah same thing happened to us with the pants that almost took 4 months to arrive … they were too small also and at first they said take a picture of the receipt and the pants and theyed see if they could just send us the right size … well it too ka while for us ot get the time to do so and when i did they sent a somewhat snotty note saying : Dear customer,

paypals looking into the matter and well probably get a refund through them

Evening all. The Tuesday Mac-n-Cheese has been consumed and while it was preparing I made up 2 gallons of Kool-Aid and ran a packet of cleaner through the disposal. Outside of that it has not been an active afternoon. Given it’s still 85F outside (feels like 94F according to the weather site), it is good not to be active IMHO.

shady, flyboy, yeah, I tried to cancel something once that hadn’t shown up for 4 weeks and got something of the same runaround…product finally showed up about 10 days later.

nellie, you are a good person. Just thought I’d say that. And I bet your hair looks fabulous!!

swampy, IIRC you’re somewhere around Albany, just looked at the NWS radar and if it ain’t raining yet, just wait a bit longer…

OK, mac bowl is soaking (amazing the grip mac-n-cheese takes to the bowl) and things are otherwise quiet. All y’all have a peaceful night.

yeesh everyone’s getting crappy about this family drama… makes a wonder why ya bother in the first flippin place…maybe i should of stuck to my original idea and just went my way and juts sent everyone a card twice a year … even aunt and the favorite niece got mad at each other over something that was misunderstood …

if i didnt have sooo much family thats not involved in the current id say piss on em all …

And since Tampa and Columbus have decided to play hockey till one team dies of exhaustion, the Canes now play tomorrow at 11:00A.M.
