On this date in the MMP

When I’ve had to do difficult self-evals, I’ve kept close to competencies, objective criteria, and my job description as the base of the report. I identify areas where I meet or exceed these, anything else of note, areas for improvement (but end with a positive). Best of luck!

Cat Z has lost a lot of weight and has bad liver enzymes. We’re trying liver support meds, diet change, and close monitoring. Unfortunately the major med appears to nauseate him, which is the wrong way to go.

Lots of people looking at the neighbors’ house in a horrifying undistanced and unmasked mob. I hope this at least results in a fast sale because I don’t want to work in the yard with so many of them milling around on the street.

I iz a manager and have to do 2 evals. We also have to do a self-eval. However, there are no raises/bonuses and I am not accumulating PTO all due to COVID. Guess what? On my self-eval I put nothing in the “area of development” cuz I’m retiring in 95 weeks and I don’t give a damn. I also gave my employees all 5s which is the highest you can give.

Speaking of managers, El Jefe says we can change my title from Data Coordinator/Easytrieve Programmer to Data Coordination Manager, since I’m now the department manager. (Also, the whole data department.)

Perhaps you can get your title changed to Data Department…

He probably won’t pay a lot of attention to what you say, just that you complied with his request, you’re being a good serf.

I will be the police and the first person to encounter customers, check temps and ask medical questions. I don’t want to do it but must.[quote=“Buttercup_Smith, post:103, topic:917713”]

That sounds genuinely awful!

It’s another aging thing I guess.

Yep, it has been for me. I carry around a bottle of eye drops in my backpack. Pollen allergy season seems to make it worse or if I’ve been looking at a screen or reading for hours. I had surgery around both eyes, removing a divot out of both eyelids so the eyes produce less moisture. Double whammy, ancient and amputated👳🏼

Agree with this 110%. Be loud and proud.

You might be able to handle both of those in one stop. My Goodwills take anything electronic as well as the usual stuff.

I’m envious. My stores are out of Coke Zero. I’ll settle for Diet Coke from them aslong as I have my diet brown bubbly. Gotta have my bubbles every day and yah can’t drink champagne every day. Although I would like to try:clinking_glasses::bottle_with_popping_cork:!

Good tactic. In return they will give you 5⭐️when they do your supervisor evaluations.

My two feral rescue kittens I picked up the day they were spayed as soon as they woke up. Actually made it easier to get them into a carrier and home since I was a newish person to them.

[I know, my formatting is messy. I’m working on learning how, it’s taking longer than I thought😕]

Now you tell me…

I’ll drink just about any diet soda but Tab (I’m sure they’ve improved it since I was a kid, but…) and as far as Coke and Pepsi go, I buy whichever is cheaper (usually Pepsi).

It’s thunderbooming, so rain probably isn’t too far away. FCD is still working, SIL is at his second job, but should be back for supper, and in a little bit, I need to prep the corn for steaming. I’m also going to cut up some veggies for salad, since I want a salad.

The UPSs I ordered came today - I’ve got a smaller one for this computer, and bigger ones for the office computers. I’ll hook mine up in the morning when everyone else is asleep, since the modem and router are here. Gives me something to look forward to!! WOOHOO!!

Yeah, it doesn’t take a lot get get a WOOHOO from me.

Do they still make TAB? I drank that crap in college, in the days before Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke. I thought it disappeared when Diet Coke came along.

Wikipedia says Tab came out as first diet soda in 1963, which is just around when I would have been able to buy myself an occasional pop. Drank it every chance I got. When Diet Coke came out in 1982 I was glad to have an alternative to that icky Tab aftertaste. Tab is still available, but made with some different sweeteners now-I haven’t tried any this-century Tab but then I don’t live in one of the few areas where Coke still distributes it. I prefer Coke diet drinks but will gladly drink Pepsi if that is what is available, not a big enough difference for me to quibble if that is what is being served.

Kinda hard to tell exactly what was delivered today that garnered a woohoo! from you. A X-rated DVD? Smaller one for this computer and bigger ones for the office computers? (I don’t even want to surmise what the bigger and smaller ‘ones’ might be.

BTW champagne will always get a woo-hoo! from me.

Wikipedia says they do (look under Tab). I was surprised at the range of Tab they still make. Can’t imagine I’d like it nearly as much as Coke Zero.

Boo

@Scadian

Maybe you and I should meet in the middle at a cabin in a state park for a week and see if we can drink champagne every day. I’m up for it.

Your call. :champagne::clinking_glasses::champagne::clinking_glasses::champagne:

Boo

Boo, I know just the cabin and just the park.

My favourite cola is probably Diet Pepsi Wild Cherry, though the Diet Coke Feisty Cherry and Strawberry Guava are also good.

So, are you gonna tell me the park? Not that I would be opposed to a borrowed cabin on private property.

We could open it up to all interested Mumpers. Especially if it was potluck. You guys sound like some awesome cooks. I’ll do clean-up, I’m good at that. Plus I can bake pies and cookies.

I like those Diet Pepsi flavors, although Fiesty is a tad too fiesty for me to drink often.

Boo

Actually the distances are more off than I thought – only ~400 miles for me, but ~1000 miles for you. And the cabins are closed for renovation until next summer. (S B Elliott State Park, in western PA.) Something around the IN/OH border is called for…

BBBoo - Uninterrupted Power Supply - Big ol’ batteries designed to give you a chance to shut down your computer without losing what you’re working on in the event of power loss. Our electric co-op is really reliable, but every once in a while, there’s a blip or a momentary shutdown, which leads to much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Supper is almost ready. I’s stahvink!!! As soon as the puppehs are fed, we shall be fed.

I think I’m done on the phone for today. I’ve got that knotty feeling that means I’m overwhelmed and need a walk.

Hated self-evaluations and think they’re worthless. I always wanted to write, “You’re lucky to have me.” and leave the rest blank. I didn’t mind writing evaluations of others when I had to. I wonder how many letters of recommendation I wrote for seniors applying for college. The hardest ones for kids who had little to recommend them. “Sally was frequently on time for class.”

I seldom drink cola because in quantity, it’s a migraine trigger for me. Do they still make Diet Rite? That was the one around the house when I was growing up.

Swampy, are you planning on spraying the fabric-covered cushions, etc.? I know the virus tends to die fairly quickly on fabric, but I’d still be concerned.

Butters (and others), I highly recommend using a lubricating eye ointment (They’re right by the artificial tears.) just before going to sleep. The ointment stays in your eye a lot longer than drops do, so you don’t wake up with a dry, gritty-feeling eye. It’s really helped me, and I have severe dry eye despite procedures intended to help.

Sari, my dog was home the same day she got spayed and was not in pain. Of course, she was hallucinating and kept sitting in front of a potted tree and tilting her head like she did when someone spoke to her. Apparently the tree had a lot to say.

Susan, I hope there’s some treatment to help Cat Z, poor kitty.

flyboy, I bet those data department meetings will be lively. Perhaps you could gift all the department members with a nice bottle of wine–you know, for work well done. Strictly motivational.

OW, I love that “promoted to customer” line and will adopt it and think of Kopek each time I do.

Re: UPSs mentioned a few posts ago. Messed up my quoting but here goes. From FairyChatMom

Ahh, those! My big bro lives in a suburb of Chicago (?Naperville) and my little sister in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Both places were blasted by that derecho storm two days ago and my bro had been texting about UPSs and I couldn’t figure out why he was carrying on about the delivery guys in brown trucks messing up his computers (he has a roomful. I’m not kidding and ham radios). Now it makes sense. He loaned his generator to ‘elderly ladies’ who lived next door. He’s 75 so I wonder how old they are.

My sister in Iowa (same town I grew up in) still doesn’t have power, doesn’t know when they are going to get power, their back porch and all their siding was ripped off. She says not a tree still standing in her old, established neighborhood. I have to fight the urge to jump in my car and drive there, but there’s nothing I can do to help so I sit here and worry. I did just today Amazon her some small charging packs and cables for their phones so they can travel to the sites the city has set up as charging places and charge up their phones and these packs.

The three chairs up front can keep their cushions on the assumption that those people each have their own chair so there’s really nobody else touching hem.

Not particularly familiar with kneelers, but do people touch the upholstery with their hands, or just their knees?

Tell the rest of your committee that a Covid-19 Supervisor in California recommends 86ing the pew cushions. That will make the sanitizing effort far easier.

Frankly, it’s looking like the whole notion that Covid-19 is freely transmitted by touch is starting to look a bit overblown, but for now, the recommendation is to sanitize the bejabbers out of everything, or at least focus on the high-touch stuff.

Presumably just their knees, but they could well be touching the back of the pew in front of them when changing positions.

Swampy, do you have hymnals out in the pews for folks to use?

They do, but it is hard to find. My big store here in Née-braska sells it, one little row of about 4 12packs while Coke and Pepsi, et al. share the whole huge aisle.

I have always liked Diet Rite and buy it when I can. It’s good for when I need to avoid caffeine, which is anytime after about 4pm. Had a lot of clients I recommended it to because it has no sodium, which is hard to find in a diet pop.

Funny about migraines, isn’t it? I often treat mine with a slug of caffeine, trying to avoid having to do the shot. My daughter keeps herself caffeine free unless she has a migraine and then she grabs a big frozen iced coffee.

Glad critter (forgot whose it was) got home ok from the vet. It’s not so weird talking to a tree. My Siamese does that to doors.
