On this day in the MMP

Spare a thought for those of us in Hawaii. The icy fingers of winter have reached out. Temps are plunging into the 60s at night. We are suffering.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated (a bigger than usual crowd today which made me have to go in the Sacristy and get extra Communion wafers, plus do math to figure out how many more were needed), stopped and got a McN.O.L. to bring back to da cave and et. Then it was nappage. Then it was beerverage time. Then the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Such a pace!

red we like Tanqueray gin. I am by no means a gin connoisseur, or indeed, any kind of alcohol connoisseur. We just get stuff we like that is not too outrageously expensive. Truth be told we are semi-cheap drunks.

Cookie better thee than me re the temp. A cold front is comin’ through the end of the week down here. The expected low on Firday will be around eighteen. Lawd!

Taters hope it’s been or is bein’ a fun day with the family around.

MOOOOOOM YIKES! Glad you didn’t hit the deer and glad the deer didn’t hit you. You deserve to relax after that.

Nellie an old fashioned, highball or Manhattan is good on occasion. Just not a fan of overly sweet alcoholic drinks. Martinis and gin and tonics make me especially happy.

Lily hope the wife and you are feelin’ better soonest. It’s a bummer to have to cancel plans but it’s best to be all grownup about it and be safe. Adultery can be a big ol’ pain in the patoot at times.

Quietly HAH! I laughed. Fart jokes never go out of style.

Sam my heart felt sympathies to all of you in Hawaii. I am so sorry you must endure such harsh temperatures.

swampy, that’s the gin in my likker cabinet. If somebody else is buying, I’ll go for Sapphire or Plymouth, but Tanqueray is my go to.

A ginintonic sounds good. I have some Juniper 8 from TJ’s in the cupboard.

Tater tot casserole is currently brewing in the oven. It’s cold and gloomy here, seemed like a comfort-food kind of day.

Buddy and Allie are recuperating from the invasion, DH and I are in pretty serious sloth mode (except for a few minor things that HAVE to get done, such as feeding ourselves and DH making sure a new piece of equipment is good to go to irk with him tomorrow).

Haven’t had tater tot casserole in years. Totally forgot about it. Also been having a hankering for some creamed chipped beef on toast. Mrs Morty won’t eat either so I guess I’ll just have to wait for when she’s not around to satisfy my cravings.

The gin of choice around these here parts is Aviation. I have Tanqueray Rangpur for G&T and Beefeaters for the peasants, but my go-to for the last few years has been Aviation.

What can I say - I’m Ryan Reynold’s bitch. But he picked a damn fine product to invest in and shill for.

Evening all. Did finally get to the gym, then home to bathe and clean up before heading to Longhorn for dinner…turned out that waiting for Sunday night was not a bright idea, waited 45 minutes for a table but the steak was good. Now in internet mode for most of the evening. Already 28F heading down to 22F, and by Firday it’s supposed to be in the single digits, so Ali-bama is reacting like the Apocalypse is coming. If snow shows up (probably 15% chance) a National Emergency may be triggered (folks down here don’t react well to snow). Old N. Ohio resident me shouldn’t have any problems, but may need to get the Heavy Coat out for the first time in a couple years.

Morty, tater tots and SOS*? If I didn’t know better I’d say your pregnant. But it takes all types, so enjoy it when you can.

swampy, just curious, how are Communion wafers packaged? I always imagined them like Necco wafers, all stuck in a cylindrical wrap. (Lapsed Cat-Lick here, but never an altar boy).

Siam_Sam, I’m rooting for the Volcanoes, just so you know…

Thank you, quietly, for that piece of humor.

Sari, can you get away, even if for 48 hours? I mean, leave your phone at home and contact folks via the hotel internet (many have a free computer you can use). Hard on Sah-son and the dogs, maybe, but might do you some good.

FCM, falling like that at that age is no joke; one of these days he’s going to hit something hard and that might be it. Hang in there.

Alright, that should wrap up my week; all y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

*SOS= Shit On a Shingle–common term for creamed chipped beef on toast-just in case any of you youngn’s have heard it before

Not pregnant, at least not that I know. And you can’t beat SOS on homemade bread toast slathered with real butter.

swampy this may be TMI for my tender psyche~where are my pearls ?

Boo makes a note to herself to check out Trader Joe gin next time she is there. Gin and tonics are her second favorite drink….after rum and almost anything.

And FedYecchs does it again. Lying about delivery attempts, trying to dump packages at a leasing office that does not accept deliveries (and was closed today anyway)…

Wow, miss one single day and look how much has happened!

Someone’s BFF might have posted on Nextdoor about those stupid trumpy trading cards and it has been REALLY hard to mod because I am so biased. It is made even worse because BFF or BFF’s hub pops back in to stir the pot.

And yes, much pot has been consumed during the stirring.

Back in the day, I used to be able to go to a fabric store and look at an entire wall of spools of ribbons and laces, grab what I wanted and have someone cut off the amount I wanted. Nowadays, you have to buy craft lace and ribbons by the spool unless you are lucky enough to find just what you need at JoAnn’s dinky ribbon shelf.

So, I needed a little bit of ribbon to finish BFF’s project and ended up buying two 100 yard spools. FML

I gave the rest of the ribbon to BFF. She has grandkids and they do art projects, it’s her problem now.

Buddy is yoyoing in and out. At least he’s back to his normal enough to have done some lap sitting.

Buddy ran the intruders off, he must be VERY proud!!!

Don’t you love it when you ignore a problem and it magically goes away on its own?

I LOL’d.

The scent is unmistakable!

Okay, there are some ornamental varietals (weeping, creeping, etc.) that are bred for good looks instead of culinary use & are subsequently less aromatic.

You poor, sweet dear. However will you find the strength to soldier on?

Thoughts and prayers.

That’s why we think it’s not rosemary. I didn’t smell it at the store, because it looked like rosemary trimmed into a Christmas tree shape.
