If I Just Must, I'll Start The MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89 and mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, or not. The big item on today’s agenda is men’s night over to the church house. We shall go over early to do prep. Also, I shall call the pharmacy about renewin’ my ‘scripts this mornin’. I can hardly contain myself I am so excited.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Rah.

So, here it is, the new MMP. Jump on in and hijack away!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Foist! Just sayin’.

I would love to know what the males in my household have against me getting some sleep. Between Buddy’s middle-of-the-night howling and DH coming unglued at any little disruption in his launch sequence (current crisis: unable to locate some batteries he thinks he needs for the keyring locator tag he has, and he’s been calmer about actual medical emergencies), I think I’ve achieved about 3 hours of sleep tonight, and my alarm is going off for the first of two appointments today in less than 2 1/2 (appointment’s at 8:30, alarm’s set for 7, it’s currently 4:35).

Shaping up to be quite Monday over here.

Non-boat choreage today! FCD wants to work in his shop, machining the labels for various things on the boat. So I’m going to do some house cleaning (rah.) then run to WalMart for cat treats and ibuprofen and a few other things. Plus it’s near the jeweler’s so I can get my ring. It’s funny how nekkid my finger feels!

Several people in several forms have questioned us buying a boat that needs so much work. Let me assure one and all, the only thing needed was to replace one engine room blower and its circuit breaker. Everything else (including resulting inadvertent damage) is because FCD thinks things need to be a certain way, and that’s what he wanted to do. That’s why we chased down and remove so much abandoned wire - it wasn’t causing any problems, but it could have led to confusion one day. And in the course of replacing some corroded stuff, we solved some intermittent problems.

We did get a good and thorough inspection before we bought it, and apart from the numerous abandoned wires, we knew exactly what was needed and we knew we could deal with it. What we didn’t know was how hard it would be in FCD, physically. But it’s a good, solid vessel, perfectly safe, and as soon as he splices together the wire to the flybridge tachometer (that he cut in error) it will be working exactly as it should be. But I still intend to whine and complain about all the hard work it requires, because that’s what boat owners do.

I was talking to Scott - the guy with the 45’ motoryacht tied up next to ours. He’s a retired Marine Mustang who also owns a 50’ racing sailboat that he just raced from Newport to Bermuda. Yeah, there’s some money floating around us. Scott was talking to a guy about detailing his boat once a month - must be nice! We still haven’t gotten around to our first good scrub…

Then there’s Karen and Ron on the 46’ sailboat on our other side - they drive down from Pittsburgh every weekend. Ron is talking about selling his business and retiring - he does something with computer network maintenance and service and apparently he’s good enough that he can afford to fire clients he doesn’t like!

And on the other side of them is Matt and Laura from Falls Church, VA. We’ve met more “neighbors” at the marina in the last 4 or 5 months than we have at our house in 18 years!! And so far, they’re all really nice people. That’s a big thing we missed when we didn’t have a boat. And if I start going on and on too much about it, you can say something. I may well ignore you, but go ahead and say something anyway!

It’s a muggy 74° to start the day here and it’s only supposed to get hotter and muggier. I miss spring.

Happy Moanday!!

Nettie, sometimes being lifelong bachelor has its advantages…

Morning all. Up early because the plumbers are due today to fix once and for all (fingers crossed) The Leak. Have completely cleaned out the walk-in closet that has been designated target Zero, haven’t taken the shelves down (I’ll let them do that if they need too) but they should have enough space to work. Since nothing has to move and the spot has been designated, it hopefully will go pretty fast.

Got a 70% chance of rain and tunder-boomers between today and tomorrow, so we’ll see.

And that’s all from your N. Ali-bama corespondent. Have a good week y’all.

MetalMouse - how do they repair - do they splice in a new section of pipe? I would hope so, rather than wrapping some magical tape around the outside. But I’m not a plumber, nor do I play one on TV. Anyway, that must be a helluva break in the line you’ve got! Fingers crossed for a quick and final resolution!

well, a crappy week turned unto the crappiest weekend and next week doesn’t look promising …if things continue I may be relocating myself in the middle of the night, and consequences be dammed …

I wouldn’t know, since I’ve never lived completely by myself (went from family of origin to marriage, have always had pets), and would probably find it too lonely to suit my personal preferences. Yeah, the boys are in pain-in-the-tail mode today, but I do love them, and both Allie and Misty are behaving themselves.

Workin’ at home (WAH) on what may be the hottest day ever in the UK. No matter if today is not the record – tomorrow most certainly will be. The MET is talking 40+C (105F+) for parts 'round London.
I’ve got foil on the windows and a Grateful Dead show from '74 on my Raspberry Pi
Cheers!

From last week’s MMP:
Wheelie belated happies, I hope you enjoyed being the train driver all day!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 'ot!! Currently 32c/89f with a predicted high of 35c/95f, the weather app says “It’s hot like a donkey punch to the back of the head”. I’d agree with that. All the office windows are open, the blinds are down and we have fans going. There are only three of us in here but it’s like working in a greenhouse.

shady no idea what’s gone so wrong but I hope your week improves. Sending you a big virtual hug in case it helps.

Moooom you are moving in some exalted circles there! Round our way, most people could probably afford a dinghy on the park’s boating lake if they formed some kind of subscription club. Good to have the wedding ring back though, just so you’ll feel properly dressed.

metalmouse fingers and toes crossed that The Leak is finally sorted out today and the water company compensates you for the problem too.

Coriolanus you’re lucky, our offices are open and my employer expects staff to be in them. I’m already about to shoo one of my team out to go home early because half her trains are cancelled. I told her not to bother coming in tomorrow too, we can all work from home but she has the longest commute out of all of us. The other one in today drives to campus so she won’t have any problem getting home again.

Right…back to attempting to keep cool. I may have to go on an emergency run over to the campus shops for ice creams.

I was in England the latter part of May/beginning of June and cannot imagine how y’all are coping. I almost passed out in the British Museum on accounta the sun beating in the rotunda. I lived in Washington DC at a time when few apartments had a/c. A friend used to put his bedsheets in the freezer just so he could sleep.

Mornin’ all. Tis raining and kinda cool here. We need the rain, but it’s gonna wake up the grass, so I’ll have to mow. Plusses and minuses. I’m at tha shop, gonna finsh up some things so’s I can start other things. Oddly the rain is making the radio come in badly, when I sit at the desk chair. If I’m anywhere else, it comes in fine. Or maybe it’s not the rain, maybe I’ve become interference.

Onward! Stay safe, y’all.

I grew up in Baltimore county in a house with no a/c. We had a window fan in the dining room set to blow out, and we opened the bedroom windows about 4" so the night air would be drawn in. I’d go to bed with a damp washcloth to wipe down my arms and legs, hoping it would keep me cool enough to sleep. I don’t miss those days.

But YAY I have my wedding ring back. It’s a tad looser than I’d like but if I shake my hand, it won’t come off, so that’s good. And if my fingers swell, I should still be able to get it off. I also got most of what I needed at WalMart. I was surprised that they didn’t have buttermilk. I’m going to make a batch of raisin bran muffins to take to FL, and the recipe calls for buttermilk. Hope Food Lion carries it…

OK, I’ve got chores to do - quit distracting me!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Pokes haid in…hey ya’ll

We had a swamp cooler in the desert, with a single, large outlet in the ceiling at the intersection of the hall, kitchen, and living room. Dad and I would open our bedroom windows a few inches so that the cool air would blow through, and ‘aim’ our doors at our beds.

I used a spray bottle.

Morning, all. Guess whose air conditioning decided to take a crap Friday evening. Wasn’t too bad. Only got up to 101 yesterday.

The guy will be out sometime between 10 and noon today. Pretty sure the unit just needs to be recharged, because it blew, just not very cold. We shall see. In the meantime, the cats are pissed at me for the heat and want me to do something about it RIGHT NOW!

Everybody stay cool and keep your heads down. Heat makes crazy people even crazier.

Well, the plumber is here, so far he’s been more of a construction guy, having to drill through the slab to find the piping. So I’m staying on the other side of the house. Had a couple sammiches as I don’t know when I’m going to be able to do my usual Shop-n-Sammich run. Still hoping to get my swimming in.

quietly, hope it cools down for you, I pay a yearly amount to get the unit checked and re-filled with freon (or something like it). $$$ but haven’t had an issue since.

FCM, glad the ring fits better.

And the day moves on…

Oh, my goodness, so many A/C problems in the MMP!
Popsicles and fresh coolant all around.

Why yes, I am procrastinating. How could you tell?

We’re going to have six days of highs in the low-70s (69º on Friday), then the rest of the 10-day forecast predicts ~75º. Mostly sunny. Looks like high tide won’t be too late on the weekend.

I don’t wanna say it’s hot, but I saw two Hobbits throw a ring in my yard yesterday …
