If I Just Must, I'll Start The MMP

BTW, welcome back, Pearl! I was just thinking about you the other day when I noticed the MMP FAQ sticky that you created. How’s things, besides hot?

I just had to run out to FCD’s shop THREE TIMES to get what I needed to install a towel bar in our bathroom. But it’s installed and there’s a towel hanging on it, so life is good! FCD used to hang his towel on a bar above the terlit, but the reach was painful, so now he has a more convenient bar.

I’m going to make quiche for supper. My recipe makes 2, so I’ll freeze one to take to FL. In fact, I might use whomp croissants for the crust and make 4 little quiches in throw-away pans. That should work, right? And I won’t need the buttermilk till next week - I’ll bake the muffins then. That’ll give me time to find some or make some.

Kitchen is tidied, and I really should vacuum. Maybe later. I’m just not feelin’ it right now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Rant time.
Several months ago, I told FCD he needed to make a decision about his email, since he’s still using his old company domain. Last month, I reminded him. He just now came to me and asked me to contact the company because his email failed. And he asked if I was mad. Well, yeah, I kinda brought this up in plenty of time to avoid having the account crash. I gave him the phone number so he can do it himself.

But it’s apparently my fault.

Hiya Mooooooom! Got the day off today, so we’re playing the weekly D&D game. probably going to go some job hunting since my job is in transition. (client is pulling out of our company, and they are scrambling to find us another position, but no guarantees) Other than that, things are going ok, I do suggest you give FCD a stern talking to!

Even though I grew up with F, I try to ignore it most of the time, especially when it gets in the 30s, because 100F is just too much, even though 40C (just a bit warmer is a :scream_cat:).

Today’s high was 32.3C/90F. Blech. And tomorrow’s supposed to be warmer.

South of the country has already started with water restrictions. I’m afraid we might be next, so I’m watering while I still can.

I think it’s pretty cool Wheelie got to drive the train on his birthday. Sounds like a pretty neat gig.

Crossing fingers for MetalMouse’s leak. Hope this time’s the charm and the water bills start being reasonable.

Got most of our reservations made - we’re flying to San Francisco next month, then driving up the coast to Seattle. Just have to do the rental car, plus my parents want to give us a list of recommendations for restaurants along the way. We’ve been asked to stop for cheese curds in Tillamook. Haven’t been there since they’ve renovated the visitor center.

FCM, can’t imagine being without my wedding ring. It’s rare that I even take it off completely, but I don’t wear my engagement ring as much. That I’ll even notice if I go to work, since I usually wear my watch and engagement ring to work.

Getting towards sleepy time here. The rest of you - enjoy the Monday!

For a quite reasonable price the nice man from the HVAC company fixed my A/C, so it is starting to get cooler in here. Turns out it was a blown capacitor that basically shut off the compressor. The fan would blow, but no coolant was circulating. Now that’s fixed and I can return to my Summer Vacation life of Sloth and Dissolution.

If you’re going up 101, also check out Bandon’s cheese factory.

I’m hungry but also don’t want any of my food. I’ve discovered being a teenager again! :scream:

Summer continues with smoke and heat. My sister came back from Mexico with much ado. Her flight was cancelled, so they spent an extra night in Mexico City. They also brought home an adorable little case of COVID. throws hands in the air in exasperation I love her. She is one of humanity’s most amazing beings. She is also chaos personified. :upside_down_face:

Take care everyone. Happy Monday!

It’s damp and cold in North Vancouver, BC–come on, we’re just a bridge north of Vancouver, it’s supposed to be temperate here and now! Annoying news: the hormone therapy for the prostate cancer aggravates the gout AND shoots up my cholesterol levels, so I’m hobbling around and starting a statin. But the real bad news is the seasonal allergies: I’m sniffling and snuffling like I’m watching Casablanca. Well, here’s looking at you, kids on the MMP! In other news, life is actually pretty darn good!

Wait about three hours. I’m about 35 miles or so south of you, and it’s supposed to be sunny this afternoon.

Thanks for the ray of sunshine, Johnny L.A.!

And now another person in my department is down with Covid. That makes three total, all of whom are in contact with me daily. I feel like it’s only a matter of time before it gets me.

We’ve had that happen twice, over 17 years with two different compressors. We replaced our old one last year, so fingers crossed for a while. But we do have a service contract with our HVAC company - two checkups a year, and we’ll get service ahead of non-contract callers in the event of a crash. It’s worth it for the peace of mind.

I’ve got an experiment in the oven - I took 4 little aluminum pans, lined them with whomp croissant dough, and slightly baked them. Now they’re full of quiche, along with a regular pie pan with regular crust. Here’s hoping it works.

When I went to get the mail, I saw this black and white cat that’s been hanging around here of late. She was under our truck… with a black and white kitten and a black kitten. I put a little kibble and water out for them. I’ll try to keep a bowl of water available for them, but this is the only feed. I don’t need any more cats. If we had a no-kill shelter, I’d catch them and turn them in. Maybe I’ll contact one of the local rescues…

Always something.

Got my Amazon Fresh and Instacart orders. I try to space them out better than it worked out today, but one driver was arriving just as the other was leaving. At least they didn’t get in each other’s way or cause traffic issues for the neighbors. Instacart had some substitutions, but communication was great and here in the 2020s, we’re annoyingly accustomed to out-of-stock items in grocery orders.

With Amazon, I’d ordered more of those frozen potstickers I’ve mentioned before, and some very sensible person packaging the order included a frozen bottle of water, so frozen stuff was fine on arrival (it’s a long trip for the nearest Amazon Fresh facility) and I got a bonus bottled water  .

Now for a video appointment in about an hour. Rescheduled office visits again, since poor sleep had me feeling much too cruddy to head over there today and I really question the wisdom of what would have been an afternoon appointment tomorrow in a heat wave. I do have poor heat tolerance lately.

Surprise, surprise - there are 4 kittens! They were snarfing down kibbles and one was standing in the bowl of water. I think I have a water dispenser in the basement - I need to check.

Dammit.

Better start Googling rescues, or call your vet for suggestions. No babycat pictures?

No pics - they’re way under the pickup now. I just took more water and food out, but all I have is senior kibble.

I did contact the local animal welfare league - we’ll see where that goes. Even if I was inclined to let them live in my yard and eat my kibbles, I can’t afford to get 5 cats fixed and vaccinated. So I’m waiting to hear back from the league.

The other one climbed into the engine compartment of the truck. No clue where mama is right now.

[deafening SQUEE that has Allie glaring at me] Those babies need to be scooped up and socialized so they can find humans to manage.

They backed off when I approached. We’ll see if they’re still there tomorrow. Cats seem to like me.

Afternoon all. The plumber just left after 7 hours and the leak is still not resolved. Apparently there are several in the pipeline, he’s fixed a couple of them but the water meter is still clicking over. So he’ll be back tomorrow with their testing equipment to see if he can narrow down the problem (it may extend to my kitchen). Meanwhile I’ll continue to muddle along.

So will get my Jersey Mike’s sammich this evening and then do my shoppin’, but it looks like swimmin’ may be off the table. Ah well, such is life.

FCM, wonder if somebody’s cat had kittens and they just dumped them…hope they can get shelter.

quietly, I had to replace a capacitor several years ago, glad the rest of the contraption is fine.

teelabrown, considering your named after the luckiest human being to ever live,
perhaps COVID will give you a pass.

Krop, hope the snifflin’ and snufflin’ go away pretty soon.

OK, a little TV and then do the outside stuff. All y’all take care.
