All of these comments are extraneous to the core issue here, which is the prejudicial mistreatment of stalwart conservatives on this Board, by persons who can neither comprehend nor assimilate the depth and clarity of thought being offered.
Now now, we DO need to cut the deficit, just not entirely on the backs of the poor. Closing tax loopholes and ending corporate and huge farm subsidies would go a long way in good faith negotiation. Ending the Iraq war will help but Afghanistan still needs our attention to keep the ones who got us over there to begin with at bay. Halburton could take a cut and I wouldn’t cry too hard though. Those greedy bastards would ruin the country just to line thier pockets.
Alas, for republicans it’s all or nothing and when they get all then they want more. I’m not even a democrat (independent) and I see that. The obstinence of the tea party is ruining them. Lordalmighty the thing is run by a bimbo who did not even fulfill her obligation to her state when she bowed out early from office.
Of course, that’s a problem with right wingers; you can’t really parody them without risking people thinking that you are one because there’s few if any parody positions you can take that won’t have conservatives who really believe that way. Poe’s Law.
Are we supposed to think that there is some sort of action that is too absurd for Republicans to do? You have already tried cutting taxes to raise revenue, eliminating jobs to reduce unemployment, advocated torture and extra-judicial trials to defend freedom, and opposed sex education to lower teenage pregnancies.
Reagan and his cronies were the ones who did a lot of snuggling up to the social conservatives. While SOME Republicans are social liberals these days, they won’t admit it in public. Today, most Republicans are all for limited government…until it comes to something near and dear to their hearts. For instance, despite the fact that Texas is having a financial crisis our Good Hair Governor and his buddies decided that it was URGENT to get a bill requiring a sonogram before an abortion. We’ve got a gazillion other issues to address, but this bill was considered an emergency priority. Whether you consider abortion to be a sin or not, you have to admit that this is an example of extremely intrusive government.
This whole issue really became clear to me yesterday when I spoke with a woman whose recent checkup at a Planned Parenthood clinic identified potential cancerous growths that need to be biopsied. So all you conservatives can kiss my hairy ass if you think that you are being unfairly maligned.
It astounds me that the republicans who shout the loudest for small government are the same ones who want the government to dictate who can marry who and what a woman’s productive right s are.
Apparently…
small = what I want
big = what I don’t want
A more accurate statement would not be that Republicans “want to see people dying for lack of health care,” rather that they find it perfectly acceptable so long as the wealthiest Americans get to keep a bit more of their capital.
Bricker thinks people who can’t afford health care should die. That’s certainly evil. Especially because he likes to say he’s a Christian, although I think it’s fair to say that Christ would rebuke him utterly. Do you think that Republicans get a bad rep, maybe, just maybe, because they do and say insane things?
Sort of; it’s more that Republicans are typically the sort of guys who rely on expense accounts to get laid. Democrats more often go for such odd ideas as love and affection; or plain old mutual lust. They often have wives and girlfriends they actually like, and who like them back.
I’m not joking by the way; I recall a news story some years ago about how prostitutes were being brought in from all over the country for the Republican convention because of the huge demand - but no one bothered to do so for the Democratic convention. Not enough of a market.
