It’s chilly and sunny and clear here today. Started off with 33° and it’s up to 43° or so. I’m sorry y’all have all that yucky snow. The worst part for us is lugging all the plants into the house.
Rosie, I’m sorry you have Teh Sick. That’s no fun at all.
I’m sitting here trying to plan the menus for the week, and make a grocery list. i usually do this on Saturday, but I was busy. Ya think?
I had a wonderful Christmas. I am very tired and have Teh Sick, cough, chest and throat hurt, body aches. I’ll live.
I worked my ass off yesterday, but it was worth it. Everyone loved the meal and everyone loved their prezzies too. Although I didn’t have much to do for “cleaning” or tidying. It was the actuall prep of food and keeping guests happy; preparing noshes, drinks, cleaning up as I went along with meal and nosh preparation. I really didn’t sit down until seven o’clock last night.
I received all kinds of nice stuff. Today, I plan to do nothing but hang out in my new jammies, stay warm and do nothing but relax. Well, I might make the stock for my prime rib soup, but that doesn’t really require any kind of effort, other than checking to make sure the pot doesn’t boil over, and skimming off fat.
Jack Black and Jason Segel sing The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth, a remake of a Bing Crosby/David Bowie duet, which I didn’t realize existed until last night. Not a combination I would have thought could exist, but their voices are spectacular together, I think.
Mmm, duck fried rice.
Gnat got half Thomas and half cheap Ikea knockoffs- they all work together, which is splendid. Listening to him tell stories about them as he runs them over the floor is great.
Off to a Christmas party this afternoon with Quasi-Daughter and a bunch of my extra Husbands. I’m making artichoke cheddar focaccia and we’re taking wine and presents.
I am so smug. Mr. Lissar was actually terrified that I had gotten him a Furby by the time he sat down to open his gift. I did good with the lying and misdirection.
Am cleaning up a bit an doing laundry. Nephew is having a sleepover tonight; he and brother are currently on their way to pick his friend up. I won’t have to deal with him much because I have to work tomorrow. Excellent timing! (I’m sure he’s a nice kid, but my house is TINY.)
Near as I can figure, we’re supposed to get 3-6" of snow at home, ending tonight, so we shouldn’t have any issues getting home. I expect the interstate will be clean on Monday, and we’re leaving on Tuesday.
**FCD **and his folks are going to buy some rock for his aquarium tomorrow, but I’m not going. Just not intersted. So I can surf of nap or whatever.
Still cold and windy and ick here. So much for Sunny Florida…
Howdy Y’all! Late yesterday evenin’/night about three quarters of an inch of snow fell. 'Twas fun to watch and even funner to watch sis’s dogs play in it, especially Goober the American Bulldog who really enjoyed “chasin” the snowflakes.
Fortunately, I did not encounter anything like black ice on the drive back. The roads were warm enough that no freezin’ occured. So good for that.
OYKW got a later start comin’ back than he wanted and won’t be back until eightis this evenin’. Thus, he’s goin’ to his house to unpack and since tomorrow is a work datm we wib;t be seein’ each other tonight.
Hey, Stuffed! Good to have ya. At least they didn’t call you Stuffed Up: then they’d be wishing a lifetime of sinus problems on you. Not Good.
Happy day-after, everybody! We got a few flurries this morning here in central Mississippi… What a cruel joke for this Kentucky girl. We don’t get a white Christmas, but snow on the day AFTER. Yerg.
Absolutely no cannibals, and when I say none, I mean there are a certain amount, more than we are prepared to admit, but all new Mumpers are warned that if they wake up in the morning and find any toothmarks at all anywhere on their bodies, they’re to tell Swampy immediately so that we can immediately take every measure to hush the whole thing up. And, finally, necrophilia is right out.
Thanks to Stuffed and Bobbio for the set-up!
Got a call from my sister - one of my cousins died either yesterday or today. I hadn’t seen her in years and we weren’t particularly close. But she’s the first of my generation of the family to die. She was in her mid-60s, I think, and I know she wasn’t in the best of health. She leaves behind 4 kids and probably some grandkids.
not sure how much snow we’ve gotten so far, but the wind has created some lovely drifts and patterns. I think the street was cleared once, but got pretty well covered up again
