Hey everyone, I can see that you folks have been busy and we have been as well. One of the cousins was in a very bad car accident on Monday and the family has circled the wagon trains.
Hubs and I had a far too familiar discussion, I don’t bring food to occasions like this, I bring paper. Everyone is going to be bringing food and food needs napkins, paper plates, plastic cutlery, plastic cups and paper towels. Then it will require toilet paper. I buy the good stuff too.
Hubs thinks I’m being disrespectful and that I should always bring flowers, food and/or booze. He gets “oh, how pretty” for the flowers. I get “OMG, thank you so much!!!” for the toilet paper. I’ll keep doing it my way, LOL!
So much to our cat-sitter’s delight, we spent Monday night on the other side of the state so she was forced to stay the night so the fuzzbutts didn’t get scared.
Do kids still go goth or is there another name for it now? She’s looking very gothy nowadays and I’m afraid to comment on her looks because she’s in full puberty and I don’t want to make her cry. Or even worse think “oh gross, that old lady thinks I look coooolll, I need to change my look.”
I made the mistake of watching the state of the swamp speech last night so thought I should do some retail therapy today. We went to Huntington and I bought a consignment cobalt blue vase for twelve bucks. When I got it home and unpacked it, I found a flyer for the Pilgrim Glass Co. in Huntington. As they encouraged people to come for tours, I looked it up.
I don’t know if you folks are aware of it, but West Virginia glass makers were second to none and during the last half of the twentieth century the glass was prized world wide. Some of the glass companies are still alive and kicking, but this one closed in 2002.
I feel like I know what happened, someone bought the vase as a souvenir and put the flyer in it and then put some plastic flowers in it. Somehow it went, dust, plastic flowers, flyer and all to the consignment store for me to find. I feel like I should put the flyer back in when i fill it with silk flowers.
I did get a bunch of nice yellow silk flowers but the stems need to be cut and I’m not in the mood to dig around in his tool cabinet hoping to find dykes. (diagonal cutters, get your minds out of the gutters!)
Tomorrow I will try to remember to take a picture of the vase with flowers. That will be after I take the pics of the protest signs that our talented @missred sent me last week. They are super clever, and I’m planning on sharing them on Sunday. Thanks again for the signs, people will be looking.
That sounds like a great start, I hope you aren’t too sore tomorrow. I’ve taken Tai Chi up again and I can sure tell that I’ve been slacking.
Yanno what is the best part of using a Keurig coffee maker? You don’t risk forgetting how many scoops of coffee you put in the filter when making the first pot of the day. They also have a slotted cup stand that will hold a cup of coffee if you forget the cup before hitting the go button.
Well dang. I’ve read that this years flu shot didn’t quite hit the mark, but does offer some protection. Hopefully your jab will make this go away in a few days rather than weeks.
Oh yes, food and gas are at all time lows! Everywhere but here that is.
I am so happy this was found and treated. I hope she recovers well and painlessly. If she was prescribed pain meds, be sure she takes them on schedule. Our beloved night nurse @BippityBoppityBoo can explain it better than me, but she needs to allow her body to relax and pain tenses one up.
I worked two jobs when I was in my twenties. I had lots of money mostly because I never had time to spend it. When I was in my fifties, I got upset when I was expected to work a few hours late once a week.
Suggest she look at her social security account, even if she was job hopping, she was putting something in. It won’t be enough, social security is never enough, but it does help. Also suggest government work. As you know, it sucks and doesn’t pay that great, but it forces folks to save for retirement which is kinda helpful for the live-in-the-moment sorta folks.
