One last shot of white stuff in the MMP

I hope it’s the last shot! We didn’t get a lot of snow - maybe a couple of inches on the ground, but the driveway is just slushy. Dare I hope that this is the end of it for this winter? Dare I??

So, with spring waiting in the wings, have you started thinking about spring cleaning or spring planting or some other seasonal highlight? The biggie on my agenda will be filling in all the holes Otis has dug and trying to get some semblance of a lawn in the yard. I’ll pause while you chortle, giggle, and laugh.

And thus we enter the final week of February! Happy Moanday!!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 34 Amurrkin out and clear with a pretty high of 47 and sunny. Winter has returned. Not a whole lot goin’ on at da cave today. Big surprise, I know. Sup will be beef and veggie soup which I took outta da freezer and cornbread. A cool day calls for soup.

No thoughts on Spring here. I have noticed a thin layer of pollen on stuff outside. The annual tree orgy will be in full swing in a couple of weeks I suppose. I hope the big storm was not too bad for those in its path.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Well, that depends on where you live. Here, in Chicagoland, winter is basically over. True, it’s possible that we could get a 4 inch snow storm in March, but it’s all completely melted in a couple of days.

The long-range forecast (if Accuweather is to be believed) shows a majority of temps in the 50s and 60s well into March. There will be a few sub-freezing nights, maybe. Who knows? I choose to believe that this is the last of the snow in Southern Merrylande.

Thank you for not bursting my bubble!

32 Ferrets here, out of an expected high of 30. Still snowin’ and blowin’ out there. I’m not even going to try going out there with the yardstick. Haven’t heard a plough go by this morning – I’m starting to wonder if the new snowplough policy is to wait until the snow stops, so they don’t have to burn a lot of gas ploughing the same streets again and again. That’s pretty much what happened with the last snowfall.

Good morning, its 23F here and it is lazily snowing. Our driveway is white and there is an inch of snow on the bird feeder. I haven’t seen any school busses so I’m assuming schools are closed.

I haven’t heard any snow plows but the highway is clear so maybe they came by or maybe the traffic is enough to keep things clear when it isn’t snowing that hard.

Today is going to be a bake day, Hubs wants more brownies, the old farts home is out of raw toast and I need to bake a weeks worth of chicken breasts. I’ll be so glad when we get his diet sorted.

I’ve been thinking about our spring garden, I want to put some native perennials in the front flower bed but only have two varieties of milkweed so far. I also want a couple of cherry trees in the back yard by the fence and am looking at plant nurseries. I’m not a huge fan of the one in Logan, most of their offerings come from a company based out of Ohio and I like to buy local.

The bell peppers did great where I planted them last year so they will go there again, but the tomatoes and onions will go in the side yard instead. Last year I planted to avoid the afternoon sun and learned that I’m not in Arizona anymore.

For now though, I’m just watching the snow fall and being happy that we are here.

My legs are feeling much better. I can stand and walk without saying, “Ouch, ouch, ouch!” on every step.

I finished the I Love Baseball jigsaw puzzle yesterday. Sometime today I’ll disassemble that one and start another. We have some new puzzles coming, and maybe they’ll get here before I finish the disassembly. You never know, sometimes.

I’ve often wondered where puzzle companies get their pictures. I have one I think would make a good puzzle – lots of fall foliage, and the trees on the other side of the loch are are almost perfectly reflected in the water.

4F at 0730 in MSP. Sunny and very cold. The heating fan is on high and I have a portable running as well. Never lived in a house where the heating system was so inadequate. We may get some light snow sometime this week, but then we’ll yo-yo back to the 40s and down into the 20s again.

Nothing serious happening this week, just the usual routine. We had tickets to see Macbeth yesterday but canceled out, which has been our norm over the past months. Just as well, as the seats in that theater are like medieval torture devices.

Aaaaaand, as I rather suspected, the “your car’s repairs are complete!” email from insurance was bullshit. The car place was confused, as it’s still sitting bashed up in their lot. So still have that to deal with.

Wife’s surgery is tomorrow. She booked house cleaners for today so the house is nice and sparkly for her convalescence. Which means we had to clean for the cleaners. Cats will need to spend the day in the basement. The cleaners are pet-friendly, but they will get nothing done if these two are out and about.

So life continues to be all lifey and shit.

still snowing in philly. 13.7 and counting. jersey shore is a mess. the pictures of the ocean are seriously stormy high surf.

spring in phila kicks off with the flower show. which should start on the 28th. this storm will impact the set up time. in 1993 the flower show had to close due to a nor’east’r that dumped over a foot of snow in phila.

Morning all. Up at 5:30am to micturate, but negotiated with my bladder to sleep in until 7:30am, so feel ready for the new day. Spring has shown signs of appearing, we’ve had some temperatures above 70F and while the next couple of days will be cool with sub-zero temps at night, we’re dur to hit 70F again on the weekend, so yay! for that.

As for Spring, I do need to pay more attention to my house, there are a couple of electric issues I need to get taken care of by a professional, and just general cleaning. I won’t be coaching soccer this spring as I am off on vacation for a large part of April and it’s not fair to the kids to leave them in the lurch for half the season, so those afternoons I spent coaching will be mine, so really need to get at it.

As for the pennies, I think I’ll hold onto them for awhile, Kroger has stopped using them in their self-checkouts and I expect other places will do so, and I always like to have at least four of them in my pocket change, so they’ll probably get used eventually.

Thanks, but sometimes I wonder if I spend too much time there, mostly to work off calories from eating too much. I wonder if I would have the discipline to watch my consumption closer if I cut back my activity. We’ll see as the year goes along.

JtC, happy garden planning, I’m just happy the grass still turns green and grows so I can mow it.

Knots, glad the legs are doing better, I was a little sore getting out of bed this morning but feeling ok now.

Pavo, yeah, I’d be calling that insurance company asking what the…heck?! And best wishes for Wife-unit’s surgery.

rocky, sounds like you got hit the worst of the Mumpers so far. Take care.

And now need to plan the morning excursions, have to drop off a cap for one of my soccer players who left it at the gym yesterday, then shop, then hopefully rescue my phone from the gym, and finish with a #3 sub from Jersey Mike’s.

Everyone have a good week now.

It makes me wonder about all of those folks who did the penny thing for counters a few years back.

knotty, I’m glad that your legs aren’t as sore today.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I forgot to cook some black beans for the big weekly meal overnight Saturday, so I put them in the crock before I went to bed last night and will cook this evening. Being a one person household, I only have to do a big meal once a week and then freeze leftovers in single serving portions. Other than houseirk and cooking, not a lot on the agenda today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/52f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “The cloud are all fucking nuts to butts up in the sky.”

Nope…just looking forward to lighter evenings and being able to go through the park instead of around it on my way to or from work.

I am sorry to hear that the insurance email was rubbish and the car’s not fixed at all. Wishing your wife the very best for her surgery, and I am sure you will both enjoy a sparkly clean house too.

knotty I’m glad you aren’t feeling so sore today.

In our house, KP is short for “kitchen paper” so it amuses me when people say they’re doing KP (partly because I can’t remember what it stands for) and I expect them to be doing something with kitchen roll.

My weekend was fun, I had a good session in the gym yesterday, came home and rollsucked the carpets. Sadly, I think the pet hair attachment has given up the ghost. There’s decent suction from the end of the wand bit of the cleaner, but when I put the attachment on to clean the stair carpet, all the suction goes. Time to look at ordering a new one.

I had a nice long soak in the bath as my reward for all of that effort, then made spagbol for dinner. Today I was up early, tended to the needs of cats, did some irk and sloped off at lunchtime to do the grocery shopping.

I’m off to the gym later for Amani’s “cycle revolution” class. That’s a Spin class to everyone else, but it’s something that won’t upset my hip issues. ‘im indoors is making dinner tonight, I think he said he’s doing mac and cheese so I’m keeping out of the way because it’s bound to be messy.

29 degrees and about an inch of snow. Went to the foot dr to get callouses sanded down.

Morning all! My Fitbit has a “smart wake” feature that wakes you up when it determines when you’re sleeping the lightest in the thirty minutes prior to the alarm you’ve set. This morning, it was wrong. I was not sleeping the lightest at 4:45. I set the timer for fifteen minutes and was much more refreshed at 5. Chloé and I walked this morning. (24ºF). It was fine, except when the wind blew. When we got back, I took off her harness and jacket. She did a good job sitting and staying while I unlocked and opened the door, and once in, she tore through the house to the bedroom, looking for her Primary Human. I cracked the door for her, and she tore in. I immediately noticed the room was still dark, and thought, “Oh crap, Mrs Magill is still asleep,” when I heard the hair-dryer running. I turns out, I was stealthy this morning, and she thought I was still in bed.

We had a good weekend, we churched. During the “biscuit minute” between the early service and classes, the rector and I discussed how The One Ring was the physical embodiment of temptation.

Last night was easy, stretchy yoga, which I needed. I got cocky Friday and did a forward fold, and spent most of the weekend regretting it. My back is doing much better today.

Dinner last night was a leftover vegetarian chili, with I had made for Friday night. I like this recipe, it was a hearty chili, and it’s vegan (as near as I can tell) - well, until you add the cheese and sour cream.

@JaneDoe42 - And now I want brownies.

Did someone mention shots? :tumbler_glass:
The usual Monday heaving. Light volume, but having to do 6 cars, and work around the Saturday loader’s mess. Plus D was doing the irregs, so he was just salvo-ing them, and not calling out the set, so I had to drag a bunch of them halfway back up the belt. And it still was a short day. I did a quick Aldi run afterwards, milk, eggs, olives, and salami.
No snow here, but the windchill was 23 Ferrets leaving work today.

SO glad I’m not trying to go there today. Word is, it was the client who talked the company into pushing the job back; they still wanted to try to stay on schedule. I wouldn’t be surprised. My flight was cancelled over 36 hours ago anyway. As an independent contractor, I probably would have just told them I’d be a day or two late and not stress over it. While I like to stay on good terms with them, it’s ultimately up to me to accept their schedule or not.

Meanwhile, we’ll see 80s here in southern NV by midweek. So I guess Spring is already here.

Good morning.

It’s 43F and damp outside. We are expecting a few more morning rain showers, but by afternoon, it’ll be cloudy, with a daytime high of 47F.

So, no snow here. Our winter has been far too mild, and the lack of snowpack in the mountains is worrisome.

JtC, I’m going to be on the lookout for these: [Strawberries and Cream] for my garden. (Echinacea Strawberry and Cream - Coneflower | DutchGrown™). I am always on the lookout for plants that pollinators love.

I’m not sure what’s on today’s agenda. I slept in VERY late, and now I feel like I’m playing catch-up. I don’t have anywhere to be. I could knock out a little laundry, I guess.

Alrighty, time for some more coffee. As I said, I slept way too late and didn’t roll out of bed until 8:00 a.m. Mr. Taters got up early to take care of the pups’ breakfast. You all take care.

i am now hooked on “ryan hall y’all” on you tube. the storm chasers are stuck in new england. mass. is getting pounded. the drifts are higher than the ambulances. emergency services as answering calls on foot if they can. serious blizzard conditions on the new england coast. whoa.

the philly local station 29’s coverage is always a hoot. they showed the toddler sled hill in front of my building. and of course, the people sledding on the art museum steps.

i’m working from home and doing laundry.

fachverwirrt, i hope the car repair happens at some point. may your wife’s surgery go well and an easy recovery.
