I’m so sorry. Sending warm wishes and hugs.
And I’m sure you understand that when we say warm wishes and thoughts… we mean the cuddly type.
Good luck to you and your family Silky.
I have to say, as much as people here will get right in one another’s faces to “express their opinions”, it’s extremely gratifying to see so many people come together and send their best wishes as one voice. Makes me proud to be a Human and a Doper.

Wow. That’s terrible. Still, thank God nobody was injured.
Sending thoughts and prayers toward Silkythreat . . .
Here’s some more prayers and good wishes…
Silky, hang in there. You have friends here.
SilkyThreat gave me kind words of encouragement when my house flooded in June.
I’d like to return the favor so you hang in there, girl.
And a special thanks to BillyRubin for keeping us posted.
Sending prayers and hugs and positive vibes and LOTS of ::huggles:: your way, SilkyThreat.
I’m SO glad you and your loved ones are safe.
Much Love,
Cheri
Thinking of you Silky.
I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, prayers and good wishes. I’ve not been able to post to this thread, having only access to a computer at work right now, and I apologize for being so late in my thanks.
My family has been so lucky that we found a place to stay (finally!) and had quite a happy Christmas, all things considered. We had had another fire three years ago, and because of that, our insurance was cancelled. We could have gotten insurance at a MUCH higher rate (four times as high, and all up front) but that was economically impossible. Due to this, all we could afford was structural insurance on the house, so any lodging and contents were left for us to pay. Needless to say, that ate up what little money we had for Christmas and regular bills, so we were in a bind. If not for the kindness of my sister and her husband, we would have been homeless the first week. The following week an anonymous couple from my children’s church donated a small apartment for us to stay in until the house is repaired. These people proved that wonderful, selfless and generous people do exist in this world.
Complete strangers have been the people who have helped us so much. My children have received clothes, toys, books, etc. from people we don’t even know, and who chose to remain anonymous. We can never thank these people enough. I have sent “blanket” thank you cards to the churches and schools who have helped us, but I would love to thank these people face to face. I only hope one day I can repay these many kindnesses.
I want to thank Billy Rubin for letting everyone know we are still among the living and asking for everyone’s good thoughts and prayers. I literally cried when I read it, as you have no idea how much I treasure everyone on this board, and it meant so much to me that all of you were thinking of us.
I may not be able to get back anytime soon (it’s hard to post from here…work has a tendency to get in the way, dammit!) but as soon as I am back online at home, I will respond again. Please know you are in my heart and I miss everyone greatly. This community has shown me what love and care is, and I can never express my gratitude or feelings aptly enough.
Belated happy holidays to all of you. Thank you again for being here for me and my family.
Stacey
Silky, I’m so glad to hear you and yours are doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help get you back on your feet again.
Miss you!
Glad to hear it, SilkyThreat. If you were closer to me physically, I’d gladly bring over a lot of household goods that I surely don’t need and would help get you guys set again, but sadly I’m way up in Illinois. I hope that if we Dopers can help you out in any fashion other than moral support, Billy or someone will let the word slip out.
