well, aside from having no patience, I also have never been great at taking care of myself, let alone someone else (I almost didn’t adopt Smokey for that reason).
I threw kimchi, ground beef, mushrooms, and red pepper sauce into a wok and stir-fried it all with some rice. Turned out okay. Now that I don’t have grad school clinging to my heels I have more time to actually cook when I’m home, instead of eating ramen in front of a laptop.
I haven’t been out with my friends in ages, either. Some of them have left; the others, I imagine, are enjoying their idleness much in the same fashion as I have been. I love them all dearly, but for the past year we’ve seen each other nearly every day - the harder we had to work, the more we needed to drink afterwards.
I am actually enjoying having some alone time, although after a week of it I am also starting to feel sociable again. And withdrawal from not having drunk for so long. Heh.
I shall perhaps finish Kushiel’s Dart tonight, ere I go to bed.
Burgers and coke for dinner. Okay, MorningStar Grillers and diet, caffeine-free Coke for dinner. Tasty!
I’m listening to Toby Keith’s High Maintenance Woman. I don’t know why that song cracks me up, but it does. Ooh, someone’s spinning out somewhere. No crashing sounds, so they’re just being jerks. I don’t get the thrill of speeding through our neighborhood with its narrow streets, jillion cats, kids on bikes and skateboards, and oddly parked cars, but it must be exciting, since so many people do it.
The problem with kids is that you can’t throw 2 days worth of food and water down and leave for the weekend. And cats never go through your purse, order things online without permission, or throw wild parties while you’re at work. That I **know **of.
that’s the key, isn’t it. Maybe all the horking we come home to is evidence of wild cat parties
Coming tomorrow is the story of today’s shift. Blood and gore, but no guts. It has to wait for a PC that works.
Ha. You have not spent a lot of time around cats, I see. From the day you purchase or adopt one, they are plotting their escape and/or revenge. This is the nature of cats. I respect it–unlike dogs who are happy to be enslaved…
You wouldn’t believe what goes on when you’re not home…bwahahaahahahaha.
I almost finished my annotations for the ENTIRE semester. Albuterol makes me hyper, so I did some homework. Now for those pesky papers and bibs…
There’s a crop circle in my yard! Actually, it’s just dead grass from a kiddie pool. Work went better today, and I am off tomorrow.
I had a Stouffer’s skillet meal for dinner(I was too lazy and tired to make a ten minute meal). I’m on beerverage #2.
Rosie, I sound like my dad when I deal with other people’s larvae: “WHAT ARE YOU DOING? PUT THAT DOWN! WHERE IS YOUR MOTHER? GO TO YOUR MOTHER RIGHT NOW!”
BBBobbio, I wait with baited breath(I had shrimp tonight)
Haze, that sounds good.
rigs, I had the same problem the last time I was on antibiotics. It hurt to drink water.
Put a bunch of recycling out and collected up the stray newspaper to go out in the morning.
Glad work wasn’t too bad, doggio.
It’s a bit late for me; wanted to finish reading Spare Change and start my book club book. Maybe I’ll at least try to finish the mystery. Although I’m actually getting a bit sleepy.
See you in the next MMP!

When I took out the trash, I discovered that someone left me a present. Some jackass dumped a queen sized mattress and box springs on my side of the street. This is not something that will be picked by the trash collectors, but rather, something that you have to pay to have removed. So they dumped it in *my *side yard.     First the neighbors tried to set their house on fire Friday night, and now this. What is wrong with people, anyway?
No, going to sleep wasn’t what I was procrastinating about. Going to sleep was more procrastination. And no, I still haven’t done it. swampy, is that your cue? Only thing about me is that lectures tend to make me dig in my heels farther.
Fortunately or unfortunately, no entertaining went on after I went to bed.
Oooh, I like that. . .the weekly HDC. I don’t think it would get past the mods, though.
Taters, I’ve been having some weird dreams lately too. Last night, I had one that was TMI. And I’m gonna spare you the details. I was squicked out myself. Maybe the warm weather brings out the dreams?
rigs, sorry to hear about the bee sting and the antibiotics effects. You’ve had a few not-so-good things happening there. I hope things turn around soon. You’re due for some good things happening in a row.
Haze, when I was young, my mom used to make kimchi patties. The contained beef strips, kimchi, watercress and flour and egg to hold it together and soy sauce for flavor. They were made into a patty and fried. And of course, served with rice. It used to be one of my favorite dinners.

Jahdra**, how are the morningstar grillers? I generally eat the regular gardenburger. It does have some cheese in it, but it usually doesn’t bother me. I’m lactose intolerant, but I think the amount of cheese is very small. I like the morningstar sausage links. They’re a tad bland but I like them for breakfast.
Ack about the mattress!
gt, what book are you reading for book club? I’m in a bunch of book clubs at the moment, so I don’t read all of them, but some of the books I’m supposed to be reading are Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris, *A Conspiracy of Paper *by David Liss, *I Feel Bad About My Neck *by Nora Ephron and Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. Last month, I enjoyed Angels and Demons by Dan Brown and sort of liked Kite Runner by Khaled Husseini.
To everyone and no one in particular, I just noticed that this MMP has a lot of people without kids in it. How interesting!
roo, I like the grillers a lot. Boca burgers are good, too, especially the garlic ones. Gardenburgers are too mushroom-y for me, unless I drown them in cheese and mustard and ketchup. I loathe the taste of mushrooms. They taste like…fungus. Blech. That’s one of the reasons I don’t like Quorn, either. Fungus! :barfy smilie: I like MorningStar’s bacon strips and sausage patties, and Boca’s sausage links, which are quite spicy. They brown up nicely and get that crunchy texture that goes so well with waffles and maple syrup.
You know, I swore up and down I would NEVER have kids. I didn’t have the patience for them and the little ones drove me up the wall and through the roof. The fact that some of our friends had undisciplined little brats just soured me completely on them.
Somehow, when it’s your kids it’s different. Don’t get me wrong; there are days I could moiderize 'em, but I just send them off to their rooms so I can calm down.
Also, when you know you can discipline them, it makes things easier to bear too. It’s tough seeing some little munchkin tearing your stuff up and the parent not doing a damn thing about it. AND…you don’t dare lay a hand on them either.
I did lose my grip one time and popped a five year old that didn’t belong to me on the butt. He was being a total brat. OVER THE TOP brat. His parents thought it was hilarious. He ended up breaking something very precious to me. I had put it away just because of him, but the brat found it and broke it…on purpose. I am ashamed to say that I lost it. I didn’t yell. I just grabbed the kid by the wrist bent him over and popped him ONCE open handed on the ass. Boy, did he bawl. His parents gave me the evil eye. I looked at them both and said in my “death to you” tone of voice (this is not yelling: this is low, precise and deadly sounding), that there was no excuse for their lack of discipline. If they didn’t like it, they should have jumped in much, much sooner. We didn’t see them for about six months. I was very, very happy. You know, they didn’t even apologize.
I basically spent the day on the computer and watching some TV. I grilled some blade chops and had cheesy taters with the chops. That was the extent of my exciting day.
I’m sorry to hear about the bee sting, **Rigs. **
Guess I’ll veg in front of the TV for awhile.
Haze – you just reminded me of the week I spent in Korea (2001, business). Kimchi! Yum
Everyone else – there’s far too much here for me to respond right now, and anyway, it’s Monday (yes, H&R, it is. Really!) So I think this MMP should be officially put out to pasture.
