Ongoing Euro '08 matches. Spoilers included

Are you kidding me? Am I going to have to take back all the cussin’g I did last night and today to my coworkers?

Anyone have a video link? Cause I saw the replay five times and no angle showed anyone else stomping on him.

One thing I gotta say, is that the Croatia/Turkey game is easy to watch, Red and Blue. It’s like Stratego.

Nice save by the second string Turkish Goalie. But the was the Turks are starting to play, I suspect there will be more penalty shots soon.

Finally!

Holy shit!

Bwaha!

Croatia better pull it out in penalties; I’m looking forward to the rematch with Germany.

I do not fucking believe it. Comeback kings strike again. Penalties it is.

Good goodness… The Turks are masters at turning games around against impossible odds…

It was literally the last kick of the game, no? O.o

I’m sitting over here laughing my fool head off. Unbelievable.

Memo to Croat penalty takers - the goal is the big white thing with the net.

And… Turkey is through…

The Masters of Comeback…!

Wow. I bet that hurt…

Now, risky though it may be; I don’t think a late goal, or two, will rescue them from the Germans.

Well, that guy can stop a shot or two, can’t he?

You do realize that the foot stomp came AFTER the foul, and he didn’t start the agonizing response until the foot was stepped on, right?

You also know that he had a foot injury for the last three months for which he’s about to get surgery, right?

Some people really ought to know the facts before reaching judgments. :dubious:

I’d have to say that that was 118 minutes of pretty much boring nothing followed by two minutes of pretty exciting stuff, followed by watching Croatia pretend to be England in the penalty shoot-out. :smack:

Memo to Germans: When get Turks down, make referee stop game; do NOT play the last five minutes if possible!!

No, I didn’t know this. On the replay they showed this was not obvious to anyone, including the commentators who hurled abuse at Ronaldo as well. You can see why I would come to this conclusion, no?

Again, I’m asking if anyone has a link to the video that shows this happenning?

Not offhand, no, since UEFA are watching YouTube like hawks to make sure clips don’t stay up. I can certainly corroborate that chain of events, though; he was fouled, then trodden on while on the floor after play had stopped, and reacted to being trodden on pretty much instantly. I doubt he was as hurt as he made out, and as I said before I don’t think the German player did it deliberately, but Ronaldo was very definitely fouled, and then trodden on. No diving involved whatsoever.

Holy crap that was exciting.

Has there ever before been a game in a major tournament where a team scored to take the lead 117 minutes in and then lost?

ESPN noticed it about 15 replays in. At which point the commentator swallowed his pride and apologized to Ronaldo on the air for suggesting it was fakery.

French TV1 showed it and the commentary was that it should have been a red card (I have this on reliable basis from friends who post on other boards and saw that feed).

At this point, the only issue in the situation appears to be the question of whether or not the trodding on the foot was deliberately done. My personal opinion is that two things make it likely it was done either deliberately or recklessly: he didn’t attempt to go around the player on the ground, and he never apologized for what he did, despite the fact he must have felt that he was trodding on something other than the newly laid pitch. :dubious:

Ok my computer didn’t tape the extra time! ARGH, got to remember to tape the next show just in case.

What happenned on over time with Turkey and Croatia?
