Online Backgammon

I’ve just signed up to play Backgammon online at Gammonvillage.

Is there anyone out there who uses this site that could give me a few pointers about the community?

I’ve only played 2 games so far. In the first my opponent didn’t even make a move and the game was awarded to me by default after it timed out. The second was a fairly standard game. I won but had a reasonable amount of luck and my opponent made a few mistakes.

My one biggest beef is that people advertise that they would like a game and decide on a rule set that suites them. When I challenge them, they then decline to play.

As a newcomer challenging an established player, am I falling foul of an etiquette issue?

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Captain.

I play quite a bit of backgammon around the pool. It can get pretty cut throat at times. Let me know how your online experience goes - I’d be interested in hearing about it.
