"Online Dating" Horror Stories Anyone?

Oh, good idea! I’ll bring the tires!

Sorry, not buying it. I mean, you drove for 40 minutes in traffic and didn’t notice the smell of the anchovies on the pizza? And then you kissed her with anchovy bits in her teeth?

Let’s just assume this happened. They might have been the nicest anchovies in the world, but who kisses someone with anchovies in their teeth on a first date?

Dolphins?

shrieking violins

(Obligatory dolphin sex video with anchovy foreplay.)

Sex and violins!

And occasional course language.

(Flipper! Go over there! Keep the little bastards on course!)

Hi,
Single mom, new to online dating. I got a bunch of emails from guys on plenty of fish, but only one really stood out. The guy was (supposedly) a single dad with custody and we had a lot in common and he was smart and funny. We IM’d for a while, talked on the phone and shared photos. The texting got sort of out of hand with the sex talk, which is completely out of character for me. He gave me his name, but when I googled him (I’m not a stalker, just a paranoid mom) nothing. I mean nothing at all. Because of the fact that we both have kids,(I have seen kids belongings in the background of pics) and he lives about 90 mins away, it is difficult to arrange a meet up. We finally agreed on a date for this weekend, but in the back of my mind the cynical little paranoid voice said, something will come up and he will have to cancel. Sure enough, he just told me that his cousin was found dead. He hasn’t cancelled yet, but I figure it’s coming. I suppose it could be true, but I am becoming increasingly suspicious. Not sure if it’s just my untrusting nature, or if I really should be. Oh and for an interesting touch, he was texting me when someone supposedly came to his house and told him.

What do you all think? Is this just some jackasses way to get someone to sext him? Or what? About ready to chuck this whole online dating thing out the window and start going to bars again! I feel stupid.

  1. Plenty of Fish isn’t really a ‘dating’ site, it’s more like a ‘one night stand’ site.
  2. He sounds married.

Course in Spanish or French?

Couldn’t pick the accent. I was mesmerised by such salty language from those tiny, tiny fish lips.

Sorry- was kidding (course as in class vs coarse as in crude).

Fell kinda flat…

Well in that case…

French. So I could be fascinés by such salty language from those tiny, tiny fish lips.

Doll fins?

Tiny, tiny fish lips squicks me out.

I am still kinda courious why it took the daughter 5 days to rescue mom from a potentially dangerous situation.

Based on what you read, if this were your mom, would you be in a real hurry to be reunited with her?

Winnar.

The subject of the OP wasn’t named “Ron” by any chance, was he?

Work and need to arrange to have someone cover her so she could get 2 or 3 days off in a row? I have worked jobs where I worked 13 days before I could have a day off [nuclear plant refitting] and in retail and security both where I had 2 non consecutive days off and would have to arrange to swap shifts to get 2 days off in a row. Many people can’t drive 500 miles in one day if they are alone <shrug> sounds wierd to me because I drove straight through from Rochester NY to Minneapolis MN twice back in the early 80s.

Not my horrible internet dating story, but we had a friend who had been single for a fairly long time, and at 40 something [I think she was 43 at the time] met a man online, who was apparently a minister of some sort and they got married after knowing him for 3 weeks. All of a sudden, she basically drops out of sight, doesn’t respond to letters or phone calls from any of us friends, or her SON :dubious: and suddenly they move to Texas, and the next thing anybody knows, we manage to track down her husband to discover she had died like 8 months previously. Rather odd that he wouldn’t say what she died of, nothing in the news paper about an accident and he never bothered even telling her son until he went down to the only address he could find and confronted the guy. She had been in perfect health, just dropped dead within 2 months of meeting a guy, getting married and moving… none of us to this date can find out what she died of, and the guy dropped out of sight again. We really hope that he isn’t some sort of black widower, but we pretty much figure he is.
