Thank God. Only four more days until people stop whining about who will or will not win the election and whose fault it will be if they do win. And whining about how horrilbe the country will become if one of them wins. And then it will be over!
Except for people whining about who legitimately won the election or how stupid our electoral college system is for picking the leader of our country. But once it hits January 20th, then it will be over!
Except for people whining about the dirty tricks the other side played in an attempt to get their candidate to win and how the winner is completely messing up the country and completely reneging on every promise he made on the campaign trail. But eventually it will peter out.
Of course, it will peter out some time after people start whining about who will or will not win the next election and how horrible the country will become if they win.
I’m so sick of the elction coverage. Worse, neither candidate is particularly appealing. It really is like that new South Park episode where they have to choose a new school mascot, and the choices are a turd sandwitch and a douchbag.
Sure, but then they’ll still be whining about whether it’s going to be warm or cold out today, and whining about their kids not doing their homework, and whining about the funny thing that happened at work today. And whining about what a delicious dinner they had last night. And whining about how several American presidents have been good presidents.
If you’re going to define every form of public discourse as whining, then yes, you will certainly hear a lot of whining for the rest of your life.
You know, people who worry about things like Democracy get really tired of being accused of “whining” when they complain about things like the Supreme Court appointing a president, and the Ohio Antics, among several other issues.
The Founding Fathers actually meant for people to care about the voting process.
I’m not sure if any of these will die down. It’s been 4 years and I’m still reminded about how Bush “Stole” the 2000 election. Somehow, I don’t think it’s going to change.
Somehow, unless it’s a landslide, a lot of people are going to be whining.
Remember, on Nov. 3, it may or may not be over except for the incessant whining.
Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never whined to Doper friends and said
“This is my vote, I cast it well!”
Whose heart hath ne’er within him turned
To see his vote usurped and spurned?
As home his footsteps he hath turned,
From voting at the local booth?
If such there breathe, I say forsooth;
For him or her no passion burns, no thought digs deep;
High though their post count, proud the nick,
Wit and cites but none will stick;
Despite those claims and sad lament,
Dull repartee, deserves no comment,
Voting, shall garner fair renown,
And, counting all this time around
Or I’ll whine and WHINE, lest one small one
Go unwept, unhonoured, and unsung.
With my kind apologies to Sir Walter Scott I think he would approve.
While people will still whine about the election , it will be mostly during news shows and not every single commercial break, and not dozens of phone calls a week, etc.
You honestly think that this whole mess is going to die down in four days? Punoqllads, you are simply adorable.
This whole “election” thing is really nothing more than an elaborate, nationwide primary election. After which the lawyers and judges will get together and vote on who really becomes the president. :eek:
Who wants to join me in a chorus of America the beautiful?
Exactly. It’s the saturation coverage that makes me want to take my cable wire, drive down to the news studios, and whip someone with it. Is it too much to ask that election-related news be confined to news shows, and not inserted into every commercial break, like slivers of bamboo showed under the fingernails of entertainment?
