Onward, Christian Hypocrites!

Be sarcastic.

Dave,

Drain Bead would not judge me for who I am. I am a Christian.

I feel that the biggest mistake that fellow Christians make is to judge others. The Bible says that is Gods job, and Gods alone. To judge others is to put yourself in the place of God. As a Christian I know that is a sin. We are not God. We are human, with human sins. Jesus said we should love one another. Jesus loved sinners, both drinkers, or whores or lepers. He loved them. As should all who consider themselves Christians.

True Christians do not judge but love, and the ones that may need love - we give love.

Thats WJWD.

Judy, none of us will ever get his/her house completely in order. But I’d love to see a Pat Robertson, a Jerry Falwell, a Beverly LaHaye, a James Dobson, a Gary Bauer, an Alan Keyes, a Phyllis Schlafly, or any other or them…well, whatever you want to call them…deal with excesssive speech and conduct by conservative Christians with one-tenth of the intensity and specificity with which they go after the sins of the Evil Liberals.

The point is not that they should completely succeed in plucking the log out of their own eye before going after the speck in someone else’s eye; the point is that it doesn’t appear to have crossed their mind that this is something they should attempt, despite what it says in the Bible.

You don’t like verse that is free?
Perhaps if I charged a fee?
You would find it profound,
it’s discussion more round,
My meaning that you don’t want to see.

That better, honey? Now, send your five dollars to me…

It wasn’t free verse. It was me posting what I think. I am merely trying to suggest that it is best to get along and go along. Find common ground. It is so much easier for us all to stand on common ground. I don’t see the need to hate everyone that is different from me. Even you.

There is no hate in my post for you, only gentle good humor that you find my style so lacking. Tell me, how could I have posted that which I feel in a way that you would like?

P.S. Hey AntiPro… how’s it hanging, girl?

You tell 'em, Byz!!

For me, your original post was like a breath of fresh air, especially after the last week or so, and I’m sure I’m speaking for many other Pit lurkers.

I would hope people read and think about what you said. We are all human beings after all, just trying to get through the day.

That said, I agree with RTFirefly. James Dobson and Gary Larson, anyway, are pure evil IMO.

I hate proselytizing as much as the next guy, yet I understand where they are coming from. Sorta. I mean, imagine you’re on a cancer ward full of people who are dying. You discover an easy, amazing, miraculous cure, but no one else knows it. Do you go from room to room telling people, or do you sit back and say “Aw hell, if they want to know about it, they can look it up.” As best as I can figure it, that is what some of the most fervent witnesses feel like–like that have to go tell people the “cure” they’ve found. Mind you, before you jump all over my ass, I said that’s the analogy that THEY would draw. I am not saying the comparison holds water for anyone else.

That said, I still wouldn’t open my door to a religious freak who came knockin’. I am saying understand why they feel they can’t just keep it to themselves and want to ram it down the throats of others.

Byz- I do not diss your right to your opinion. I diss the format you expressed your opinion in.

It looks like free/blank verse from here.

A close friend of mine at work is a Fundamentalist Christian, and I’ve discovered that I can really get his goat by telling him, “Don, I don’t get it…you’re too smart to believe in that crap…” What’s he gonna say… “No I’m not!” I don’t think so…

Gasp!!! You think Gary Larson, the Far Side guy, is evil?!! I mean, the way his draws humans can be somewhat troubling, but I don’t think I’d go so far as to call him evil.

Or do you mean Gary Bauer? In which case I’d agree with ya.

(Note: edited for codes, the slash was left out of the second code. Lynn)

Oh, no, no, no, no!! I meant BOB Larson. I’m horrible with keeping names straight.

BOB LARSON is definitely evil. He’s an evil, hypocritical, self-righteous scaremongering asshole. He needs to disappear off the face of the earth

Gary is just kind of disturbing. I read too much Far Side, I’m apt to look at my dogs in a vaguely doubtful, sinister way.

Religion is the physics of the Stone Age. Only trouble is, it doesn’t check against experimental results. People still cling to it because they can’t face the fact that they are going to die. Time to switch to 11 dimensional superstring theory.

sulla – thank Gods you made that clear! I think Gary Larson, the comic genius, is akin to a god himself! I love the Simpson’s episode where Homer finds one of his calenders in the bomb shelter and keeps saying, “I don’t get it, I don’t get it.” I believe that I worked with his spirit sister at the State office; she was forever asking me what his cartoons meant!

And for what it’s worth, I often look at my own dog in a vague, doubtful way. Not sinister but just with the recognition that she is nothing but a cheese whore. She will do anything for a bit a cheese, the whore!

Oh my gosh you are no fun!
Tuck your tail betwixt your legs and run!
I’ll snip at your balls
despite your angry calls
but I fear this argument now done.

You may not like my presentation but I do not see you argue one point I have made. Free verse or no, do you agree or not? Do not disparage my presentation if you will not argue my points.

speakeasy – are you doing the hit and run or do you honestly believe what you post? I do not believe that man seeks a higher power due to his own imminent death. For death, in my mind, is transitory. I have no fear of death for I believe it is not final. And FWIW superstring theory has nothing to do with the 11th dimension.
