Oompa Loompa Hell

I hope you’re sitting down…

As some of you may know, Tim Burton will be directing the remake of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

However, the real shocking news was delivered today from http://tvguide.netscape.com/newsgossip/inthenews/010131.asp

…either it’ll be the most ground-breaking cinematic event ever…

…or the most horrifying experience every bestowed upon mankind…

I hope for the first one…I really think it can be promising.

Here’s the link the the NYPost article:

http://www.newyorkpost.com/entertainment/21442.htm

it’s evil… not the marilyn manson part, but the fact that they’re remaking Willy Wonka  there was nothing wrong with the original.

I’ll stick with the Gene Wilder version for Mini-Cyni, that’s for damn sure.

I might watch it when it comes out on video, though. Do a back-to-back viewing. The scary one first, of course.

Though…which one is the scary one?

Movies aren’t just remade because the original had something wrong with them. Maybe the producers just feel enough time has elapsed (nearly 30 years!) that it’s time to indoctrinate a whole new generation… But yuck! What casting!

Well, special effects technology has advanced in leaps and bounds since the original was released in '79 (?)…

Like I said, it’ll be either REALLY good, or REALLY bad…

As someone who owns and loves the original, all I can say is that I’m absolutely horrified. I can’t even put it into words.

I’m sorry, but that’s just wrong. I mean, it’s bad enough that he’s remaking one of the greatest movies of all time, but MARILYN MANSON?

I’m sure it will be a visually stunning masterpiece. But I won’t see it, just on principle.

What’s next? The Wizard of Oz, starring Courtney Love?

Manson reportedly will play the title character made famous by Gene Wilder. “I see Willy Wonka as Satan because he presents people with the temptation of picking good and evil and they all pick evil,” Manson told London’s Sun newspaper

Eek. Newsflash to Marilyn: well, Charlie picks good, you big dolt. Or maybe you missed the entire point of the film.

I’m terrified of the original Willie Wonka, I’m terrified by this new Willie Wonka, heck, I was even terrified of the title of this thread. I think I have to go put a cold cloth on my head now.

What, have you already forgotten the Diana Ross version?

Sofa King, for that little song and the link to the onion story I would like to have your cyber love child.

Oompa-Loompas are evil. Thanks to repeated viewings of that movie at a tender age, I am a (gasp!) midget bigot.

I feel guilty, but I can’t help the creepy feeling I get when I encounter little people. When the dwarf skateboarder dressed up like an Oompa-Loompa on Jackass, I thought I was gonna cry.

Just thinking about Marilyn Manson AND the Oompa-Loompas together makes me want to go fetal in a closet and whimper…

I wonder if there are any plans to make a movie out of “The Great Glass Elevator”?

Oh, HELL NO!!!

Does anyone remember the Professor’s reaction to the oompa-loompa clones in Futurerama?

“What the hell are those things?”

“They’re the [copyright free-version] oompa loompas.”

“Tell them I hate them.”

Hey there Ayesha, we don’t have to be all cyber about it, you know what I’m saying? Did I mention I’m going to be out of town over Valentine’s Day?

So if he’s using rock stars in the cast, who will play Veruca Salt?

Thank you so much Pismonique. ^^ I was having a rather down and wit free day, aand that one statment has turned it around. ^^ Nice job.

Well, I’m brave enough to say that I think this could be interesting.

I didn’t like the '70s movie. I think Gene Wilder played WW entirely too cute. Those O-Ls made me sick, and the whole thing was made at a time when the FX just weren’t up to the task. Also, a lot of Dahl’s humor was cast aside, like the Square Candies that Look Round.

I think Tim Burton can pull this off, if anyone can. As for Brian Warner, he may not play it strictly MM. He’s due for an image change, which is probably why he’s doing this.

I’m for it, if only because I was very disappointed with the '70s version; therefore, IMHO, a movie hasn’t really been made.

Where’d I leave that bulletproof vest?

I also think this movie could be good. I haven’t managed to watch through the original, simply because I always fell asleep from boredom. Tim Burton and Marilyn Manson [I hate to say it] will probably make this movie exciting to watch…who knows? Maybe I just need to put down the crack pipe.
