Operation Ivy logo?

Being such a good band, I’ve looked over some of their CD’s and other merchandise, and I’ve always wondered about the logo with the (person) with it’s hands outstretched and what appears to be no head. I used to think that it was just kind of an old fashionedd hat atop of the neck. However after constant review, I’ve come to thinkin that it’s is just some kind of headless guy, with a weird kind of necklace/brim around his neck.

My friends seem to think the former of the ideas.
What’s your take on it?

(Wasn’t quite sure which forum to put this in, but since its ART & Music, I decided to put it here)

You mean this logo, right?

What you think is a necklace or a brim, is actually supposed to be the outline of his face. He’s not headless.

Pick it up!

It’s a guy in a hat (with a head). Back in the '60s when ska first started in Jamaica, and then again for the “Two-Tone” ska revival in England in the early '80s, people in the ska scene wore those pork pie hats, along with dark suits and skinny black ties.

Yup. That, AFAIK, was the original “mod” look (though I’ve actually heard the Rolling Stones referred to as a “mod-band” I’ve never understood why.

My guess is that you just stared at the OpIvy logo for waaaay too long :).

Hah, it is

I always thought that outline of the head was more of a… V-neck or something
And the guy’s head is protruding towards the torso area, but it makes sense.

Thanks

I can see The Who as a “mod” band, but definitely not the Stones.

Another mod essential in those days was a Vespa motorscooter. Still damn cool today, I must say.

The guy on the logo is called “Ska Man” (at least everywhere I’ve ever seen him). And yeah, that’s his head and what appears to be a fedora.
Good to see some OpIvy fans here.
