Opinions and views on M&S 'Adventures In Food' TV ads

Marks & Spencer (a sort of upper-middle class department store chain) has been running a series of TV ads called ‘Adventures In Food’. Their previous campaign involved a breathy female voiceover essentially extolling the qualities of the food, which quickly became annoying. This campaign has no voices - in fact, no conspicuous human interaction at all in it.

I am curious to know what people think of them, as pieces of art. I find them quite stimulating.

For example; here’s one of the Easter ads:

Here’s the longer TV ad that introduced the campaign

It’s gorgeous. I wish more ads were like that. I might watch them.

I’d be willing to have a very large bet with you that they’re shot by Charlie Stebbings. He’s an absolute master at shooting food, and is paid accordingly (my partner is privy to his day rate, which is quite gasp-worthy).

As to the ads themselves, I think they’re masterful. They have the quality and depth of an oil painting, and have made me hungry.

They are very appealing. Now I want chocolate.
