I haven’t seen the movie yet-I was listening to the NPR radio show about it-fascinating. Frankly, the idea of this (raising a chimpanzee as a human baby and trying to teach it sign language) sounds utterly fantastic-even in the 1970’s, chimps were known to be extremely aggressive, dangerous wild animals. The idea of exposing human children to such danger is just bizarre.
There was also a section where the producer asked the professor conducting the experiment about an incident…when the chimp bit a woman’s face-almost killed her. His reaction “I was afraid I’d be sued”-what a nitwit!
Very thought provoking-but some of the women who participated sounded pretty loopy-they actually thought the chimp was human.
Anyway, anybody know how much money was spent on this?
