Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

Ummm…maybe that’s just a cover story Nale and Malack came up with so Tarquin doesn’t suspect their alliance?

Okay, I’ll admit that’s weak.

Ha, I loved the sloth.

Dammit!! Now I want my very own celestial tree sloth and I’m going to be vaguely dissatisfied until I get one. Also, nice twist to a couple of running gags! Also, Durkon! Finally! I smell three very special words in the immediate future:

Sneak Attack, Bitch!

Hey! Flumphs are good. They can’t be lawyers.

I think these particular flumphs have been disillusioned and turned to the dark side by the capricious humor of the gods. And multiple hurtling adventurers.

Yay, Haley lands right in front of the Dwarf that can un-stone her, simultaneously smacking annoying lawyers.

Boy, Elan is going to have a bunch of levels to get ‘healed’.

Did I miss something? Why did Haley revert to normal size while she fell? Did the sizing spell wear off at that ultra-convenient time?

“When you find the dwarf, simply throw the figurine onto a firm surface to restore its normal size.”

I guess the side of a tower is a “firm surface”. Huh.

Ummmm… playing a little fast and loose with the actual rules, isn’t he?

I know she was growing before she landed, but she did land on a (law) firm substance.

Ouch.

You’ve been reading the same strip the rest of us have, yes?

No, that’s pretty much how Shrink Item really does work.

It doesn’t actually seem very likely that a dropped object would hit the wall on the way down.

She wasn’t just dropped, she was violently jostled out of his pocket. It’s pretty unlikely that she would drop straight down, as opposed to following some sort of a parabolic arc. And since the force that knocked her out of her pocket hit him on a vector aimed at the wall, the arc should head towards the wall, as well.

I wonder what’s in Haley’s left hand? A potion? Whatever it is, it was also depicted in her hand in #789. I don’t think it’s a bag of holding, since she dropped one that the Kobold found later. In any case, she appears to not have her bow, so she may not be much immediate help to Elan or Durkon.

Even if she doesn’t have her bow, Durkon is now able to participate in the combat through spells. As a cleric, will he have any special advantages against Sabine?

Yes: he can Turn her or banish her.
