Phoenix Down is the standard resurrection item in the series.
No wonder it stinks!
It’s an item you use (phoenix feather) to resurrect someone. You can summon the Esper/Guardian Force/Materia Phoenix to resurrect one or more party members. There was a limit on the number of characters that an item could have as a name, so it was spelled Fenix.
FFVI/3A is quite possibly the very best console video game ever. Chrono Trigger gives it a run for its money, though.
And Mog was NOT useless! 
I found Mog to be quite useful, as well as being adorable. Certainly better than that little spoiled brat Relm. Now, Relm DID put Ultros in his place, but hell, another character could have held up a mirror or something to make him realize that he wasn’t anything more than an overgrown octopus.
For Roy’s next question, he should ask, “If you were feeling helpful, which directions to the Gate would you give me?” Or “If you trusted me…”
To which the answer would be “The correct directions.”
