Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

Okay, “If I asked you how to get to the Gate from here and you were feeling helpful, what are the exact words you would tell me?”

I guess Haley’s approach to this kind of dilemma wouldn’t work so well with someone who’s already dead (and not even animated).

New strip up. Not seeing a great deal of plot movement in this one.

Although it occurs to me, given their Raise Dead troubles, that this could be an interesting time for Durkon’s old flame to show up again.

Yeah, I don’t think the gate is actually up his ass, though Roy is correct in searching it.

Ah, c’mon, Roy; even I got “beneath his own feet” before the click, and I never get anything. You’re supposed to be the smart one.

So, Scruffy has been using the kobolds mouth as litter box ever since he was dominated, and plans to continue to do so? Ouch.

I had temporarily forgotten the kobold. He’ll be back in control of his own body anytime now, I guess.

Well, Dominate Person lasts 1 day/level. Has it been two weeks since he was first dominated?

Eek. Ugh.

(Now that this thread is up again, here’s my own OOTS strip I made this week).

I love it! The minion/minyan pun is one of my old standbys…

To be a total freakin’ pedant about it, you must spend 1 round/day concentrating on the spell, or else it ends (just looked it up for my own character, so I’m familiar with it). Depending on what happens to V, that obscure and little-noticed limit could come into play.

Apart from V’s current state, what’s to stop him from simply casting Domination again?

Nothing. The target would get a save against the new casting, but Yukyuk’s Will save is probably pretty bad. And V could just cast it repeatedly to be sure.

New one’s up! Also, ouchie.

The plot, as they say, is about to thicken.

And here is a link that will not try and open a file on your computer. Comic

Oh, bugger. Sorry about that!

ETA: I blame Nale.

Is Empowered Vitriolic Sphere a DnD spell? I don’t recall coming across it before.

Vitriolic Sphere is a spell. Empower is a Metamagic modifier to a spell.

Appropos of nothing recent, my newest wild theory involves everyone’s favorite unfired Checkov’s gun, Right-Eye’s daughter:

In a world where humans and goblins hate each other that much, it must take a special sort of human couple to bring up an orphan goblin as their own. R.E.'s daughter’s adoptive family must be really into peace and tolerance. Growing up in such a household, the daughter would end up with a nearly-unique perspective on interspecies relationships.
Thus, my prediction: what Redcloak and the Drak One fail to achieve with threats and extortion, Redcloak’s niece will ultimately achieve by peaceful means. Using your words instead of your fists, as they say in second grade.
