That was my immediate thought. “That’s it for Belkar.”

Same here. He’s toast.
Yep, I thought, “Now he’s a nice target up there for Tarquin to see.”
And he still has like 1 hp
On the other hand, Durkon can still cast Raise Dead. Not right this second, but unless they were forced to abandon Belkar’s body or it was destroyed he could do so at dusk when he prayed for new spells.
Thanks!
So now they know that all they had to do to get Belkar acting like a ranger was to give him a T-rex. Makes perfect sense.
And it’s not actually a T. rex, just an allosaurus. Which makes me wonder when an actual rex is going to show up. I mean, it sort of has to, by the laws of dramatic necessity.
I thought the smaller ones Roy was killing earlier were the allosaurs and this was the Tyrannosaurus.
Beats a weiner dog.
Considering T. Rex is only the 7th longest and 4th most massive theropod, I’m wondering when the gigantosaurus or spinosaurus will show up

While this does meet the implied criteria for Belkar dieing (in that he actually dies), it doesn’t meet with what the Oracle actually impled in 329 - “Well, I’m just thinking he should savor his next birthday cake” - which implies he dies and doesn’t come back to life.
The small ones were velociraptors or similar.
Maybe Belkar’s not going to die - he’s just going to develop a severe gluten intolerance.
Not to spoil anything, but you thought the geas against killing people in town was bad…
That would be hilarious, unfortunately in 572 the oracle prophecies that Belkar will breathe his last before the the end of the year, which, unless the Belkster also becomes undead, means he’s dead and not coming back.
Unless … he becomes undead, goes into the Rift and into the world that can be glimpsed there, and doesn’t come back. That would match up to the wording the Oracle used (‘not long for this world’ + ‘will draw his last breath - ever - by the end of the year’), right?
So the actual statements from the Oracle regarding Belkar…
…the halfling shouldn’t bother funding his IRA…
…he should savor his next birthday cake…
…isn’t long for this world…
Belkar will draw his last breath–ever–before the end of this year.
2 and 4 would definitely be met if Belkar becomes a vampire. “I never eat…cake.” I don’t know about 1 and 3, though. Do vampires need an IRA?
As a halfling, one could argue that he’s already not long for this world.
No way is Rich going to kill off Belkar permanently. I bet his stuff outsells all the others in the Order 10 to 1, combined. He has to be in on the finale, somehow.
Even the Deinonychus (the closest real dino to the velociraptors shown in Jurassic Park) was too small to hold a human. The smaller allosaurus types are probably the best fit.
