Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

The weird thing is you can also see some of Nale’s characteristics.

It’s like Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen. They don’t really look all that much like brothers but they both look like Martin Sheen’s sons.

Heh.
That was very well done even if some of the smart folks here suspected it already.
And what the artist can do with stick figures still amazes me.

Oh no, wait, let’s hope when Harley Starshine meets Elan’s dad, she won’t go,

You are my father!

Here’s hoping Elan’s dad approves of Harley.

Scratch my last post, I just realized that Rich did draw Haley’s father before.

Today, at breakfast, I had a revelation! Either it was a revelation or the yoghurt was off, but… I know what the full name of Elan’s dad is, and therefore Elan’s surname!

Bear with me… Elan’s dad is essentially Elan (that is, goofy to a certain extent), only competent. And he is definitely a politician (I would be surprised if he were not one of the movers and shakers of the Empire of Blood).

So: Goofy, politician, named Tarquin…

His name has to be:

Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F’tang-F’tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel!

(Hmmm… Now that I think about it… Yep. Most definitely the yoghurt was off).

I was discussing the strip with my brother, and he said he had been speculating that Lord Tyrrinar ran away when his empire fell, and accepted a job as a guard for another tyrant. Now he’s wondering if Lord Tyrrinar’s first name is Tarkin…

That’s just Silly.

But, think about it! It makes so much sense!

Especially when one thinks about this: If that is the dad’s surname, then Nale has been saddled with it. And, chances are, Elan got his mom’s surname. What a better reason can you imagine for Nale’s hatred of his father, of Elan, and of the whole world? XD

Aaaaand… YES! NOOTS!

Ooooh, my… “Keeping the theme going”… XD

I love this reptilian bounty hunter… And I liked the little touch of bonding between V and Malack XD

Eh, sort of weak joke this time.

It just hit me that the Queen is Jabba. But hey, at least everyone’s leaving without any rancor.

What I wouldn’t give for a “not-quite-angry glare” smiley right now…

I’m very, very disappointed in you, E-Sabbath. I want you to go up to your room now, and think about what you’ve done…

Tarquin is awesome, and I look foward to following his adventures in the future.

Do you think he changed alignment somewhere along the way? I thought Elan’s… Elan-ness was because he was Chaotic.

Actually, I can’t even vaguely tell what alignment Tarquin is supposed to be.

The red and black color scheme with spikes is probably a clue…

He also doesn’t seem all that evil, so far, either.

In the flashback, he got divorced because he’s lawful evil and the mom is chaotic good.

His alignment is supposed to be uncertain - we’re supposed to wonder whether he’s actually LE, and what this bodes for the party.

Apart from the slavery thing. And posting a bounty for killing his son.
