Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

Teleporter malfunctions don’t count…

I found out yesterday Naruto has been on the same two days for the past four years. So it’s not just OotS.

Theory: Next book will be the final confrontation with Xykon at Kraagor’s gate. The last book will be a tying up of loose ends, including the fate of Tarquin, and the resolution of the Azurite/goblin conflict.

I (almost) wonder if Berlew is intentionally keeping this going until the anniversary of this “day”. I’ll need to look it up, but I think that’s in about 3 weeks. ETA: and for certain Berlew update rates, that could be only 2 strips away.

How cool is it that Ian is the first character EVER with enough self-preservation instinct* to check for Explosive Runes?

*Okay, call it “paranoia” if you must, ya buncha cynics…

CRAP!!! Self-preservation instinct. :smack:

The entirety of Erfworld Book 2 took place in one day (although I’m not sure if all the epilogues were also the same day) and that likewise took over four years from start to finish. The first strip of the book is dated October 29, 2009.

Does he have the instinct to burn the plans after reading them? (Or did he give them back?)

If Elan did his job properly—and his genre-savviness might be high enough to ensure this, but I wouldn’t put odds on it—an assumption that Tarquin will get his hands on the plan is built into the plan.

Hmm, I think I’d add to the theory of the next book a confrontation of some kind with the Snarl.

The Snarl is, by definition, a being of loose ends that need to be tied up.

New strip.

Has handlebar-mustache guy been in the strip before? I recognize the Python reference, but is this also a callback?

ETA: I like how Uncle Pegleg’s pegleg was the sending wand.

ETAETA: wait, is that the guy from the hotel where Miko and OOTS stayed? Nah.

longest brick joke ever

Yes.

Hmm, now that the Thieves guild knows about the north pole too, I wonder if we are headed toward a “battle of the X armies” situation around the last rift.

Why does the Polearm Emporium have a picture of Geoff and Ivy? Did I miss something obvious?

Handlebar Guy is Jiminy, their son that Geoff was talking about.

My lord. Only 806 strips ago. How could I forget? :o

:smack::smack::smack:
I only ever considered that the customer was Jiminy.

The customer is a woman, and quite the wrong skin colour to be Ivy + Geoff’s offspring.
