Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

She was killed by Miko in strip 189.

Just saw the latest.
:frowning:

Gah, you’re right. I’d forgotten that.

I’m looking forward to a good fight with Roy. He really hasn’t done a whole lot of smackdowns. The first fight with Zykon he won with “special move” the second fight he got creamed. Most of the others he has been overshadowed badly by V or Miko or Chul badly, or even worse used his brain not his sword.

When I was a GM a duel or Arena fight often popped up when the Tank was getting bored.

He did pretty good against Miko once he had his sword back.

two points

Is Roy also sterile for getting poisoned in book 1?

The elf seems to be glaring at Blackwing, not V as we thought.

a. I guess I was wrong.

b. Go Belkar! Constructive chaos, that’s the ticket!
Oh, and **Peter **- my guess is that it depends on where the needle pricked him.
It’s not an inherent quality of poisons - Haley’s dad probably just robbed someone who was feeling particularly vindictive towards any would-be thieves.
Also, it was pointed out by a posted on the OOTS forums that Roy was killed, reduced to bones and then resurrected; he has all new equipment.

Heh…“strong theropod role model”

Belkar? I mean to say … Belkar??

Why would Belkar go to any trouble whatsoever on behalf of Enor and Gannji? Time was, he would have been heartily amused by their being pitted against each other. I would have thought he was looking to impress Roy with his team spirit and initiative, but he specifically warned Ian not to say anything to Roy about its being his idea.

Hmmm …

Giant allosaurus running amok! Duh! That’s totally a Belkar thing.

He let a giant dinosaur loose to cause havoc, both for its own sake and to cover his escape. The incidental side effects are just that, incidental.

Once again, Burlew is defying my expectations.

Like the others said, he did it only to cover his escape, he certainly didn’t do it to save his enemies. And it seems that plenty of guards died during the episode, so Belkar probably counts that as an offset to saving the lizard and halfdragon.

Besides; there’s no way he could know that the rampaging dinosaur would save them, instead of eating them.

As long as the dino IS rampaging and causing chaos, Belkar is probably happy about it. Well, he’d be really upset if Mr. Scruffy came to harm, but Mr. Scruffy seems to be able to look out after himself.

It might still do just that. Burlew is sneaky that way.

I may be in the minority here, but I think we’re actually seeing signs of the alignment change Head Shojo tricked Belkar into.

I suspect that the saved gladiators will be grateful to Belkar for saving their lives, and Roy will shut Belkar up before a confused, irritated Belkar admits that he was planning on their getting eaten. The saved gladiators will become allies of a sort.
