Xykon is way too silly to be ol’ Bumblebee Cupholder. Maybe he could be Redcloak, or even the Monster in the Darkness.
For the voice of Xykon, I’d go with Mark Hamill.
I see Denzel Washington as Roy. But he’s 62 now so we probably need a younger actor.
I have always seen Roy as very physically imposing, my mind has him as Terry Crews. At least now. I doubt I knew who Crews was back in the early days of the strip, but damned I can remember my earlier mind’s picture of Roy.
I could see Terry Crews as Roy. He does “baffled frustration” very well.
I was thinking about him, but didn’t want to list him as the only thing I’ve seen him in were commercials. Where he was good, but still.
Certainly pegs ‘bald, black and built.’ Had no idea he was 48, according to wiki.
Mark Hamill is a great choice for Xykon. If anything The Bony One is less madcap than the Joker.
Is J.Law too easy a match for Haley? Or too young?
Yeah, it doesn’t come across in the comic because Stickworld but Roy is one big dude. The OotS Wiki has his base Strength as 20 (a typical non-adventuring commoner is 8-10). Crews or Momoa could carry it off. Forget Smith or Washington.
The best Haley I can think of right now is Uma Thurman.
Anyone else read the thread over on the GitP board? The one where everyone’s gushing about how this was a totally unexpected and magnificent plot twist? You’d think these people had never read fiction before.
I like Crews. But I feel he’s too physically imposing for the character. Roy relies as much on his brains as he does his physical strength. Washington’s good at portraying that mix of strength and intelligence.
I’m not familiar with him, but he certainly looks like what I expect Roy to look like. And I like his smile (in some Google image) for Roy, too.
The “bald, black, and built” actor I thought of was Mike Coulter. But maybe he’s a little young.
How about Corinna Ingenleuf for V? I know nothing about this person, but I googled “androgynous actors” and thought, “that’s the face”.
I think I’d like H. Jon Benjamin in the cast, as either Roy OR Xykon.
All the “finally” and “saw it coming” and even the “expected, but nicely done” comments were deleted and their writers banned as insufficiently sycophantic.

Actually, all it took was a momentary change in initiative and they made pretty short work of the pack. And a pissed off cleric with Turn Undead is going to be mighty handy in dealing with vamps.
Plus Hilgya has Restoration which is going to help a lot versus the vampires’ life drain.
These Hollywood casting discussions mainly serve to remind me how out of touch I am with today’s crop of actors. Haley and Elan would be in their mid 20s and I would struggle to name more than two or three actors in that range. Elan especially should be conventionally attractive and charismatic but also able to play “goofy” without making it seem like he’s developmentally disabled. I suspect they’d have to dial back Comic-Elan significantly to quirky and silly versus this. Likewise, I’m sure the current crop of YA Novel adaptations have produced a number of attractive young actresses who can plink a bow on screen but I could only name the obvious Jennifer Lawrence.
This looks like a job for Chris Hemsworth…not uber-buff *Thor/Huntsman *CH, goofy-but-well-fit *Ghostbusters*CH. He’s a bit older, but he’ll do.
Holy Banjo! I don’t know that actor either, but Corinna is good match for V! Now I can’t help but imagine that the make up for V changes on some irregular basis on Corinna to keep the gender fluidity going.

I don’t know about acting, but Roy has the animated Cyclops’s voice to me. Or possibly Danny Glover’s. I definitely think of him as younger than Terry Crews.
Saoirse Ronan seems too young/cute looking for Haley to me. And I want Elan to look like a total goof.
