That pic is from a while ago. She’s 23, Haley’s 24. And while I think Ronan’s good-looking, I wouldn’t call her “cute”.
a) Elan’s also supposed to be good-looking and charismatic. No, make that *superhumanly *charismatic (CHA 22 with his Belt.). That’s no way a total goof.
b) Have you *seen *the Ghostbusters reboot? Hemsworth can play goofy just fine.
Both Haley and Elan are good looking. Elan is exceptionally good looking (“Let’s see what 18 Charisma looks like under the hood”) but Haley is no slouch. Plus, Hollywood standards dictate that the romantically linked couple be young and conventionally attractive.
Hemsworth strikes me as a bit old and physically imposing to pass as Elan. Need someone in his 20s and with more of a “Dashing Swordsman” physique. After all, the whole point of Dashing Swordsman is that Elan doesn’t have to use his (mediocre) strength stat but can use Charisma instead as a damage modifier.
I think that they’d be better off using camera tricks, like in Lord of the Rings, for Belkar and Durkon than to use actual short actors, especially since there are some scenes where you’d need a heck of a lot of short characters.
You could do a fairly good job with the* Brooklyn 99* cast:
Roy: Terry Crews as noted
Elan: Andy Samberg (not good looking enough, but brings the goofy to make it workable)
Haley: Melissa Fumero - easily good looking enough and has chemistry with Elan/Andy
Belkar: Joe Lo Truglio (already little). Maybe Durkon
Roy’s Dad: Andre Braugher (although not enough screen time)
Durkon: Joel McKinnon/Scully - he’s got that dwarf look to him, but a lot of movie magic to make him short enough
V: no one is ambiguous enough, although maybe Lo Truglio (but then we don’t have a Belkar, and I’ve only seen him do comedic roles)
I looked her up to get more pictures of her. She has a cute round face, which makes her look younger than she is. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got cast to play teenagers. I just don’t see her at all as Haley. Haley should be a wise cracking actress who looks like she’s grown up on the street. Also, being a natural red head would look better.
As for Elan, his stats don’t seem to line up with how he is portrayed in the story. He isn’t someone who everyone likes, but someone everyone finds annoying and has to get past that to see his heart of gold. He may be reasonably good looking, but he’s not particularly strong, requiring a punning class to be able to inflict damage. And he’s definitely not good looking enough that most people ignore how annoying he is.
Unfortunately, while I have a picture in my head, I’m not up enough on actors to think of anyone who actually looks like my picture. The best I can do is to say he’d be kinda skinny, has a quite young look (which is why Nale has a beard), is kinda pretty in a slightly effeminate way, has a bit of a whiny voice (but not as Nale), and just always has this comic energy about him (that morphs into comic villainy straight man with Nale).
Actually you have inspired a much better option: Taylor Lautner. Lautner (he of *Twilight *werewolf fame) took over from Samberg as the romantic lead of the British comedy *Cuckoo *and does goofy, clueless, physical comedy **really **well. Dye his hair and he’d be perfect.
The other Brooklyn 99 cast suggestions are good though - I could totally see Lo Truglio as Belkar.
I was just posting a picture of a young actress who shoots a bow. I in fact think Desert Dog’s suggestion of Rose Leslie is a great choice.
Or Karen Gillan would work, too.
Actually, the people who find him annoying are his teammates who suffer from his naivete. He’s been shown to be very attractive to the ladies, sometimes almost instantly, like with Therkla or Samantha.
He’s been portrayed as increasingly competent - in fact, a large part of the overall arc is Elan’s development. And growth is a good look on anyone.
