It’s ok, a lot of people were making that mistake during that arc.
Interestingly (for certain liberal definitions of “interesting”), most of* the previous gnomes we’ve seen had pointy garden gnome caps and none of these guys do.
*I don’t think Leeky Wood-whatever, Nale’s druid, had a hat at all, did he?
I said ‘gnomes’, not ‘a gnome’.
I suspect it’s an artefact of the art upgrade. They now wear Phrygian caps, and always did. I predict that Belkar’s gnomicide will have consequences this arc, and when we see a flashback, the victim was wearing the new style hat.

Over on twitter, Rich says that the new Oots book is eating his life. Apparently the book will be thicker than usual. No, there will be no kickstarter for it.
Also, expect to see more of the Durkon/Durkevil saga. Those who don’t like it will have a “rough 2015”. Personally, I’m enjoying the strip, even with its slower pace and output.
