I know this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy out there, but Neal Stephenson in his latest book discusses a pink dragon that farts nerve gas.
I just like to think that all the writers I like all read and enjoy each other also. So, in my head, Neal Stephenson, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Burlew, Shakespeare, and Joss Whedon all hang out together and refer to each others work all the time.

The dragon is the same color as the magical aura surrounding all the spells that V has cast while spliced. So its color is most likely an artifact of that magic rather than indicative of the type of dragon it is.
Who knew pink could be so ominous?
Oh, and dragons that fart nerve gas? They wouldn’t happen to be related to those Exalted dinosaurs that piss heroin, would they?

There is one other thing that Arcane magic doesn’t do well. Heal the wounded. It is possible, given some exceedingly obscure spells, but only in the 10-20 HP range, generally.
There’s always polymorph:
That’s one hit point per hit die, not great, but it’s a core arcane spell.

Wouldn’t it be terribly ironic if V polymorphed her family into dragons, only to have them slain by a random adventuring party? I realize it’s not very likely what with V’s Ultimate Arcane Power and all, but still…
Or the rest of V’s village suddenly shows up and attacks the mysterious pink dragon that has appeared in their midst.
Or the pink dragon has a bran muffin shaped hole in its scales…
Ed.? What is this “1st Ed.” you speak of? That’s AD&D, right there. Perhaps you’re thinking of GURPS or the Hero System; they’ve had a few editions.

I’m not positive that it’s V’s magic that pink so much as a most magic in the series is pink.
