One of the game’s more memorable lines (in a game that doesn’t lack for them) was act 4’s “Through this dark portal, an innocent man shall pass. And arrive on the other side, innocent still, but colder of heart”. It sent chills down my spine in 1998, and still does now. I played through the game earlier this year, however, and for the first time had subtitles turned on, so I noticed the quotation marks- the only ones in the whole game. Naturally, I started wondering who- or what- Manny was quoting. My searches over the past few weeks have turned up nothing, so I turn to you good people. Anyone here know?
I looked but couldn’t find anything either. Maybe he’s being poetic. Now you’ve got me thinking I need to replay it.

So he was quoting his own creator? That raises all sorts of weird questions. Maybe it’s a line from a poem he wrote, or something.
I guess it’s back to hoping I run into him at a party or something.
