Origin of 'Aquarius' and 'Woodstock' (drinks).

I was wondering if any of you could tell me the origin of the two cocktails, “Aquarius” (with cranberry juice, whiskey, etc.) and “Woodstock” (with Gin, Maple Syrup, etc.). I found them in a bar manual I bought some time back. And they seem so interesting. Is “Aquarius” from the New Age of Aquarius? “Woodstock” sounds like it could be from the yellow hue of the cocktail–like the cartoon character Woodstock. Anyways, I honestly don’t know, and was hoping one of you could help me. In particular, where did they get those odd names from?

Thank you to all who reply

A Woodstock should be brown, methinks.

How old is the bar manual?

Mixologists tend to pick trendy names for their drinks when they publish them. If the manual was from the early to mid '70s, the whole hippie thing would have been in its commercial identity peak.

In case you are serious, there was a pretty big concert at a place called Woodstock in the late Sixties. People might have still been talking about it when the bar manual was written.

Assuming your question isn’t just rhetorical, I believe it dates from 1994.

Somebody was being cute. There is no actual “Aquarian” or Woodstock history behind the drink recipes.

And come with a warning not to drink it?
