Those clips reminded me just how goody Woody was in the Messenger. Of course, Cristop RULED in Basterds. I’m 1/1 so far in the doper pool!
Is it just me, or are these some really long clips? No wonder the Academy Awards have such a reputation for never ending.
Waltz won of course. I didn’t see the movie until recently and was very wtf about him winning all the previous awards. And now that I’ve seen it, I fully expected and wanted him to win, he was fantastic.
I’ve heard 3 brief blips in the audio so far. If it wasn’t technical, I’m guessing someone in the audience yelled something.
ABC7 started scrolling during Waltz’s speech that they’re returning to Cablevision. So they actually shut off during the beginning of the Oscars??

Was that shot of Cameron supposed to be almost totally dark? (I haven’t seen Avatar, so if it was a reference, I’ve been pre-whooshed.)
He’s been pretty open about being really creeped out by that role, so maybe reliving swaths of nasty in front of millions wasn’t his cup of tea (I think he should’ve gotten nominated for J&J anyway).

He was so bleeping creepy in that movie. I did not enjoy the movie (deviated from the book in ways that annoyed me, just made me cry a lot even though I didn’t care about the characters much) but he was so convincing. I guess Tucci can be proud of being such a good actor but also creeped out that he was so good at being a creep?
I’m 2 for 2 in the pool. Was glad to see Watz win. He ruled the universe in that movie.

I remember back in the 90s when a Disney animated film would win the Best Song EVERY YEAR. Man how times have changed…
So they (thankfully) skipped the 5 songs to get the 10 Best Picture clips into the show, I take it.
I thought Crazy Heart was a kinder, gentler Wrestler, but the soundtrack is wonderful, and that is a gorgeous song. My first “yay!” moment of the evening.
At least they aren’t doing that stupid and insulting “lets present all of the non-acting awards by taking the Oscar to the winner’s seat to save time” routine that they did a couple years ago.

I need to see more of these movies. Really only seen Up in the Air, Precious, and Inglorious Basterds so far. Was lazy this year. Pretty much interested in all the other nominated ones except Avatar and District 9.
Wow, Hurt Locker’s Best Picture chances just jumped dramatically.
My first miss. That shouldn’t even count as a miss because the Academy got that one wrong, not me. :mad:
Wow, I saw all 5 nominees for best screenplay, and Hurt Locker I thought was the weakest for this category. Tarentino deserved this one.
Oh god, if this is the montage of dead actors with the applaus-o-meter, I’m outta here.
Really wanted Tarantino to win that one.
