Di Di Di… Did you just say four cheese poutine?!
My mouth is watering already!
I live in Northern NY (argh… Why couldn’t I have been born just a few miles…er… km north?!, then I could eat poutine all day… the stuff here is cheez whiz crap).
I hope to eventually live in Ottawa, such a beautiful city, great people, and also with an amazing history. (and poutine)
Ottawa is a lovely town. I’m a country boy at heart so I wouldn’t want to live there, but it’s a damn fine place to visit. Of all the cities I’ve ever visited, I enjoyed Ottawa the most.
I’m exactly the same way, bibliophage. Ottawa is the smallest “big” city I can think of and gives you the perks of a big city without the feeling of being crowded. I’ll never move into a bigger city, that’s for sure.
Of course, I rarely go into downtown Ottawa and prefer Nepean and Kanata.
AC: Funny how you said that Ottawa is the smallest big city you can think of… I think of it as the biggest small city I can think of… all the distinct neighbourhoods makes Ottawa feel like 20 communities all bunched together. I love that. 
Of course I guess having the Sens technically makes us a big city, but I love the small town feel…
It occurs to me that I’ve never had the ESD’s onion ring poutine. That was a stupid oversight. Next time we go up (say, April) I must remedy the situation.
We’ve thought of moving to Ottawa eventually. It’s nice- it never really felt big-city-ish to me, and it’s so pretty. The real problem is the cold.
Although it’s blizzarding outside my window right now. Sigh.
What’s with all this talk of Poutine? As it goes Poutine is pretty great, but it’s BEAVER TAIL season!!! I live in the Toronto Area, but I am in Ottawa every other weekend, this past saturday I ate so much beaver tail, Oh I didn’t know what was what… I am really doing my part to save trees! 
Ottawa is a fantastic City, I drove in on Friday during “Rush Hour”… HA! Toronto is a parking lot from 4 till 6 (or worse depending on the weather!) Ottawa, was busy but not bad at ALL! I Love it! Plus skating on the canal, all the $$ from the government, no tall buildings (Well, ther is Dunton Tower in Carelton Univ. but even it isn’t all that big!)
Mmmm I wanna go back!
Maybe an Ottawa Dopefest is in order?
