Doug Ford may have declared an emergency, FINALLY, but he hasn’t actually acted in any way. My guess is that he’ll stall any real actions as long as he possibly can.
The Ontario government petitioned a court for an injunction to stop donations. They should do more, but that’s not nothing.
they should have started arresting and towing on day one.
The mayor of Inglewood, California has threatened to do exactly that if truckers start disrupting the Super Bowl this weekend.
The city’s police force will be busy trying to stop the fans from lynching anybody who stands between them and the stadium.
Someone who paid $10,000 for a once in a lifetime chance isn’t going to be stopped by a trucker protest. They couldn’t be stopped by the Marine Corps.
On the Sunday morning news they said the police were moving in to break it up. Can’t find any cites yet.
This article dated 12-feb said they were waiting for reinforcements before they enacted their plan for ending it.
Earlier in the day, police said they were waiting for reinforcements to arrive to implement their “plan to end this unlawful occupation.”
The Canadian police in Windsor, Ontario, began making arrests on Sunday morning near the Ambassador Bridge, a vital border crossing to the United States and one of the most visible sites of an anti-government protest movement that has roiled Canada for weeks.

While I agree with Trudeau that sending in troops to break up the trucker blockades is not a good idea, I think that the military could be called on to provide support services. The military has heavy wreckers that can be used to tow trucks away. For the ones which have been deliberately disabled, tank transporters like this one would work just as well for hauling trucks as they do for broken down tanks.
I agree they should use military equipment to move the trucks if the towing companies won’t get involved. but there’s a trailer designed for loading stuff like bulldozers. I watched a guy load a bulldozer by himself on a low boy trailer,. The trailer drops down to form a ramp and the semi pulls away with the front of the trailer attached.
Ottawa Police Chief resigns:
Interestingly, many on Canada’s right-wing were saying this very thing back when you posted this on Feb 10. Of course, now on Feb 15 they are saying that he’s a strong-man dictator.
He’s like Shrodinger’s prime minister. He’s a desert topping AND a floor polish. He’s whatever boogeyman you want him to be!
Hmmmm Looks like a cafe in Ottawa has closed (temporarily one hopes)
after it was revealed that the owner donated money to the Convoy cause that was pissing off all of Ottawa.
In the article, first she has a point:
"Never in our wildest dreams did we anticipate what has transpired over the past couple of weeks,” she said. “None of us anticipated what it turned into and we certainly don’t condone it. …
We made a mistake. Who could have anticipated it?”
Sure… who could possibly have anticipated it? Right?
Giuliani made her Feb. 5 donation on the second weekend of the demonstration, when Ottawa police were describing it as “volatile and dangerous” and lawyers were seeking a court injunction to silence the constant blaring of air horns in the downtown core.
Oh. I guess that comment of hers was bullshit.
I’m shocked…shocked I tell you!
I was just commenting on that to my wife. It doesn’t matter what he does, or doesn’t do…
I have a headache…its Trudeau’s fault. Oops, we are out of milk, damn that Trudeau!
Echos of “Thanks Obama” from last decade.
I was just informed of the Battle of Billings Bridge which seems to have been a very effective counterprotest.
