Actually, your link says deliberations took 6 hours. What took 4 minutes was the reading of the verdict, the judge issuing the sentence, and removal of the defendent from the courtroom. It doesn’t change the rightness of the verdict they reached, but it paints a different picture of the degree of care they put into arriving at it than what your misinterpretation portrays.
Misinterpretation? Not so much. Mistake? More appropriate. I didn’t actually read that article that closely. Rather, I relied on the local news broadcast last night which where it was said that deliberations were “shockingly brief” and then mentioned that “it was all over in four minutes.”

You’re right, doña Mighty, it doesn’t make a heap o’ sense in Spanish either. Who were those animals that were missing two legs at some point in the past and thus turned to debauchery? I guess he was really trying to say “they live like they’re animals, except that they walk on two legs”, but that would have been correctly “viven como si fueran animales que sólo caminan en dos patas”. So not only is he an assmiter, he apparently has a W.Bushian talent for mangling his verbal expression.
The (former) Cardinal and his successor as Metro. Arch. of San Juan just have a rep as intellectual lightweights chosen just so Rome could put in a (1) ethnic Puerto Rican who (2) would do no theological boat-rocking. I think I don’t feel so bad about them…
