I fell down! I tripped on an old walnut and wiped out on my driveway. I ripped my jeans, got a band-aid-worthy boo-boo on my knee and have a bodacious bruise on the palm of my hand. I don’t like Mondays.
I get that, too. Except my doctor uses a medical term: “A virus”. I hope you mom does OK.
Speaking of which, I went to the doc today. He had my thorax x-rayed, and gave me a prescription for Celebrex. Except the insurance wants me to try other drugs first, so I gotta wait till tomorrow until I might get some relief. I went to Target, exit fee was $7.26.

Watch out for those walnuts! They’re sneaky little buggers that clobber a handful of people each year at Faire - either by slipping on them, or getting beaned in the head when they drop from the trees.
Nurse! Bring this woman a quart of her favorite ice cream STAT! The sure cure for band-aid worthy booboos and bodacious palm bruises is ice cream.
ETA: The cure for ripped jeans is a trip to Target.
Thank you Swampy! I need new jeans, too. Ask them to send new jeans. It kinda hurts to walk.
(and maybe another band-aid. One with Cookie Monster on it.)

What kills me is that we just had our HIDEOUS not-even-a-driveway completely re-done. All those years of rocks and walnuts and ruts and puddles and all the bullshit that goes with it, and I never once fell. Now that I have a pristine 6" asphalt compacted to 3", some comedian squirrel drops an old walnut in my path and BAM! I go ass over tea kettle and can’t move for 10 minutes.
Yes, definitely ice cream! Or other treat of your choice! And (on preview) find her a nice band-aid!
Hi Kalhoun! Nice to see you in the MMP. And **Gleena **and NinetyWt too.
I grew up with a pathological fear of falling walnuts. We had a black walnut tree in our back yard. I don’t think I ever got beaned, but I could imagine the unpleasantness quite vividly, thankyewverymuch.
Sorry to hear about your Mom, gotti. Hope they caught it early enough that they can zap it effectively.
Glad to hear Scruffy’s ailment is temporary.
Puggy, you’re weird. (You requested that, you know!!! :p)
Hey…it’s Sean! Yay! And Mandy’s still a Martian (no surprises there…), although I’d have never guessed overwashing the dog was possible; ahh, the depths of space.
My internet connection cut out on me again this morning and then for a few minutes about 10 minutes ago.
The nice cable people are supposed to be here on Wednesday, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to be here.
Off to do work stuff. Yay!
Hi to all I missed.
GT
That’s it! Thank you! Frankly, I was terrified that he’d ask about the dog’s food, fearing that what we feed the critters was on the next recall list. After all, Bernie’s about 5X Scruffy’s size, so it would take longer for her to be affected. But the food is fine, so Phew. And I can safely say that Scruffy puts the Idiot in Idiopathic!
Welcome, Gleena! **NinetyWt ** - didn’t you used to hang out in the MMP in Rue’s day? Hugs to everybody, just because.
And on that note, I’m off to bed. I’m exhausted and I’ve got an especially long day tomorrow, what with class and all. If you’re lucky, you’ll see me on Weds. But for now, there’s a nekkid man in my bed who probably misses me. No, it’s not swampy. At least I sure hope it’s not swampy…
Mamma Tiger
trying to figure out if that house is on Appletree. I grew up on Athena and noticed the pic of Terry parkway at Browning Lane. Show some West Bank Love!
Gotti, sorry about your Mom; I’ll keep her in my thoughts and prayers, esp. during treatments.
Glad to hear about Scruffy, FCM. What a frightening episode, so thank goodness it’s something relatively minor. Plus I know that FCD is relieved that she’ll be okay. Hang in there this week, at least it’s only for the week (although your class days are indeed going to be long ones!).
Sean, no, it’s not the Work Boat show. It’s for the annual [del]bitch[/del] secretarial convention. If the thought of that doesn’t put the fear of Og into you, nothing will. The only thing I can think of would be worse is a meeting planners convention. ::shudder:: But it looks good on my resume.
FCM, I really didn’t need that image in my mind, thank you.
Gotti, I’m sorry to hear about your mom. She’s in my thoughts.
I’ve been knitting a lot today. Also, I’ve attempted to improve my reading comprehension before posting. Maybe I shouldn’t knit and post. Something’s bound to end up wonky that way.
I am not nekkid in FCM’s bed no matter how much she wishes!
I am not nekkid in anybody’s bed. I am not nekkid right now. I’m wearin’ drawers. You people really have to get over your nekkid fantasies about me. Except for gotti. It’s ok if he has nekkid fantasies about me.
Can I join you in saying that I HATE MONDAYS. Today I printed out a 20 page paper that I should have been charged 2 dollars for but got charged 10 dollars because some #%&*@ had set the computer to print automatically on color. *#%&@&!!! 8 dollars!! That’s 3 days worth of coffee! That’s two dollars short of a bottle of wine at our school pub! GAAAH.
Plus the string to my teabag just snapped. :smack:
:: breathes :: Monday is the mind-killer. Monday is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my Monday. I will permit it to pass over me and through me . . .
On a saner note - Glad to hear Scruffy is okay!
Wow, Lengthy Highway, that was a MOST excellent identification! Yes indeed, on Appletree, between Hector and Arrow. I will confess to a true enjoyment of schadenfreude at seeing that Miss Mary’s pine trees survived Katrina, too, because our next-door-neighbor, whose brother owned her house and the two on the other side, moved in and cut down every single tree on the south half of the block a couple months after we bought the house, thereby exposing half our house to sun when we’d bought a house that was in full shade.
Do you know what that does to an electric bill in New Orleans?? She’d bitch and bitch and bitch some more about Miss Mary’s pine trees every time we’d have a tropical storm and have to go help Miss Mary clean up her yard (watching Miss Mary, a sweet little old lady with her walker and her little kitchen bag, trying to pick up ten lawn bags’ full of broken branches meant we all went .over there every storm and cleaned her yard first, obviously!). So I’m really, REALLY hoping that those pine trees shed a LOT of branches. All over Treekiller’s yard!!

And somehow, that squirrel made both of us unable to close a quote tag.
We lived in unincoporated Gretna off of Wall about 2 miles from your old house when the storm hit. I go back once a month and every time the scenery looks wrong. Trees missing I had seen all my life throw me off. It’s going on two years now but it still sticks out each time.
Yay Lafayette! None of that stinkin storm surge!
Hi everyone.
Yep, it was most definitely Monday. Enough said, other than being pissed beyond all belief tires a body out. I’ve got to stop letting that shit get to me.
gotti, I’m keeping your mother in my thoughts. I hope all goes as well as can be expected. Also, I saw the whole freeway overpass thingy in the news. Jeeze, what a mess. I figured the driver was going too fast for that road. It was either that, or he was DAMN tired and fell asleep at the wheel.
FCM, I’m happy to read that Scruffy will be fine.
kai, we’ll be going to Sunbanks Lake Resort which is up by Electric City. It’s a good, long ways past Snoqualmie Pass, Cle Elum and even Easton. It’s about a five to six hour drive from where I live.
However, we do enjoy camping up at Lake Kachess which is just beyond the top of the pass. It’s a beautiful lake. Frankly, I’d kind of rather go there, but this other place is nice too.
Well folks, I’m tired. Too tired to sleep, but maybe watching something stupid on TV will knock me out. Good night.
Yay! Good news about Scruffy, I could do with good news today.
Last night I went to the gym for the first time since February 16th. I ache. I was only there for an hour but I was worn out by the time I finished. I’m sure I must be at least a stone lighter by now!
I was thinking of going again tonight but I have a meeting with the rest of my Run For Home team, we’ve got forms to sign, fundraising to plan and costumes to decide on. Current favourite is for a 3-sectional outfit of the Titanic with our only male team member as the iceberg. Or maybe Peter Pan, Cap’n Hook, Tinkerbell and the croc. Decisions, decisions…
I think I need a cup of tea and then I need to do some work.
<yaaaawwwwWWWWwwwnnnnnn>
I’m pretty sure it’s the cat’s fault, but I can’t prove anything. Let me 'splain.
We wake up to the TV. It’s not as abrupt as an alarm clock, plus we can lie in bed and catch a few headlines before hitting the shower, etc. So this morning, the TV came on, and while I wanted to just lie there, I’ve got to fill my car before going to class, so I hit the shower, and **FCD ** was right behind me, even though we were both exhausted. I’d picked out my clothes last night, so I was dressed right away, and I took the critters out.
I tossed some kibble in the various bowls, and decided to give Scruffy some wet food since she doesn’t seem to want to eat the dry stuff, and I’m still worried about her. That’s when I saw it: 4:12
The clocks on the stove and the microwave said 4:12. I looked at my watch - the same. I went into the bedroom to check the time set on the TV - 4:13 (close enough) then I checked to see what time the alarm was to go off - 4:45.
We were up and dressed nearly an hour too early!!! All I can figure is that Brandy walked across FCD’s night stand and stepped on the remote, hitting the power button. So I turned it off and I’m waiting to see if it comes on correctly. It did yesterday. There was no power burp, because when that happens, it loses its alarm memory. It’s gotta be that idiot feline.
Oh well, all have been fed and toileted as required. Scruffy seems a little less loopy this morning. Wish I could say the same about me. I’m exhausted and I’ve got class tonight. But I’ve pretty much decided I’m going straight to the school after my other training, I’ll do a few things that need to get done, then I’m coming home - preferable before 8.
It’s gonna be a *looooooooooooooong * day. yawn—> :o <— yawn
OK, it appears I maligned Miss Brandy. I just went back and checked the TV again. Its time was set an hour ahead. I don’t know how, and I don’t know why. So I just reset it.
But it worked yesterday. It did - it did!!
I’m so confused. And tired. Set phasers to Friday, please.
