Outdated Trends you MISS

The How to tell when a Trend is gone thread inspired this.
(Hope it’s in the right place!)

What are trends that are done and gone that you wish were still around?

Poet shirts. I had the prettiest one-black, with pink roses…I looked sooo good in it. sigh

Over the knee socks. (I’m saving mine!)

Mini-kilts. I like plaid and I liked how these looked with a black turtleneck.

BTW, it doesn’t have to be clothes, either.

Free love and random sexual encounters.

I’ll second that.

Here in New York, you can’t walk two steps without seeing at least 3 girls wearing this exactly.

I call it the Porno Catholic School look.

O.K., so I’m an old fogey, so sue me!

Flannel. Sure, it’s still popular for some occasions, but it was at it’s height in the mid-90’s, thanks to Grunge. If it was still “cool” to wear flannel, I’d wear nothing but. It’s the best stuff on earth. (And if I actually lived in a climate that was suited for long sleeved shirts.)

Skinny neckties

Fedoras

Random sexual encounters while wearing flannel and a fedora. For free.

Works for me.

And if that was never a trend, it should have been.

Want to be a trend-setter? I have a fedora. And flannel. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

“jelly” sandals - they were all plastic and looked sort of fishnetty

smarty

M.C. Hammer pants.

Well, actually, no I don’t. I’m not really into trends that much. I go with what I like. I wear a fedora, cuz I think they’re pretty cool hats. And mine is an Indiana Jones one, too.

Hmmm…can we get the random sexual encounters (1960’s) WITH the fedoras (1940’s) but minus the flannel (1990’s)??

OK this is becoming less trends you miss than “build your own trend at home”.
Ok…Genteel bohemien poverty. That’s the trend I miss the most.

Can we bring that back, and fedoras (the rest will follow)?

Chokers. I think it was the early/mid 90’s when they were cool. They looked really good on me. What can I say? I’m vain.

That’s all I can think of right now.

I miss ‘progreesive rock’. Sure, it was often full of itself, but I miss the weird and varied subject matter of the songs. And the long insrumentals.

Leisure suits. :D:D (I think I still have one in the basement. Bright salmon color with a flowerdy shirt that has BIG lapels.)

Cheezit, the 70’s style is back - bring that leisure suit out to be ultra-hip. Just yesterday I saw a model-looking guy wearing a baby blue leisure suit. Yum.

I wish bowling shirts were in style. I have a bunch of them sitting in my closet waiting for the day.

I also wish short hair was in style.

Jams (weren’t these basically Hawaiian shirts made into shorts?)

Kids wearing Z. Cavaricci or Bojo clothes that looked good rather than this crap that hangs off their ass.

I’m all for that free love thing, too, though that was technically before my time. Oh! And slipper-socks…I love those things.

Leisure suits are back? WOW!!

O.K. now… for all the women out there…how many of you still have a poodle skirt in your closet?

[heads off to basement in search of the far out, boss and groovy, cool, neet-o leisure suit] :D:D

They were cool in the late 60’s/ early 70’s too, when I wore them.

Man, I am definitely gonna start hanging out down on YOUR avenue. Mini-kilts…{drool}

Sax: Bowling shirts are NOT hip anymore? Uh oh.

My favorites that I miss and the reason why:

Halter Tops – I thought women looked good in them.
Short Shorts – I thought women looked good in them.
Mini Skirts – I thought women looked good in them.

It might have been a regional phenomenon, but there was a brand of jeans called Dittos, I thought women looked good in them too.
