Outdoors people - Where are my shorts?

Naw, they’re not missing, I just can’t find them.

I used to have a couple of pair of great river shorts made by Field and Stream. But F&S no longer makes shorts. Patagonia doesn’t have what I want. I’ve hit all the local stores, but can’t find what I want.

So I turn to the SDMB for help. This is what I’m looking for:

Nylon or similar quick drying fabric
Mesh liner “inside brief”
Back pocket with velcro closure
Two front pockets with mesh drain
Key pocket (like on Levis) with velcro closure
One more front “outside” pocket with velcro closure
And dream of dreams, a “reinforced double layer” on the butt.

This pretty much describes my current F&S shorts, which now have paint stains.

Any help would be appreciated. I booked a trip to Hawaii and want to look good/have good gear for kayaking and snorkeling.

Thanks,

Whistlepig

I’d try eBay or Sierra Trading Post.

Sorry: Sierra Trading Post.

The North Face convertables. I’d wear them everyday of my life if I could.

Columbia makes some that are similiar to what you describe.

Try Cabela’s. Look in the fishing clothes section. I think I see that sort of thing in their spring catalog, although I don’t fish, so I’m not really sure. They’re good for outdoor clothes anyway.

No mesh liner, but my faves are Royal Robbins “Zip ‘n’ Go” convertible pants. Very durable, good fit, quick drying. I rarely zip the legs on, but it’s nice to have them just in case.

Try www.landsend.com.

Campmor.com is  too!
