That sounds more like a Let’s Make a Deal moment, they always had animals behind curtains on that one. Are you sure it was TPIR?
Richard Dawson: “Name a noisy bird.”
Contestant: “Uh-uh-uh… CHIPMUNK!”
That’s on of my favorites… People will say some really nutty things under pressure.
I remember a Family Feud episode with the short guy hosting (Ray something? the one who commited suicide). There was a black family named “the Blacks” versus a white family named “the Whites”.
I remember an episode of the Gong Show when EVERY act sang “Feelings”! It wasn’t until the third one started singing that I caught on to the joke…the gongs were flying that day!
I could be totally wrong here, but don’t Canadians celebrate Easter on Monday? can anyone confirm/tell me I’m nuts?
Maybe the contestant was Canadian.
I only ask b/c I know of a Canadian band, they have a song with a line that starts “it was an Easter Monday Morning…”
Must go ask Canadian friends…
I love Richard Dawson!
Show: Wheel of Fortune
When: Mid-80’s, I’m thinking 1984-5.
Amount of $$ to be won by the player who had the spin: $65,000±
The Clue: “T-e T–ll of V-ctory and T-e Agony of Defeat”
Their Answer: “The Troll of Victory and the Agony of Defeat?”
I remember a story (though it sounds kinda urban legend-ey) that I contestant on Let’s Make a Deal once picked the curtain with a hippo behind it and after the show, knowing that such an animal was probably expensive, demanded that he be allowed to keep it! A legal battle ensued and he was awarded a sizeable cash settlement.
For all you Family Fortunes (Family Feud UK) fans:
Family Feud
“Name something you’d find in a birdcage”
“A hampster”
Richard Dawson couldn’t continue, he finaly managed to say “With a big smile on his face, no doubt”
