Ozzy Osbourne has died [fixed title]

So very sad.

I assume Ozzy Osbourne however is still hale and hearty?

Ozzy Osbourne dead: Black Sabbath singer dies aged 76 weeks after touching final show | The US Sun

“Hi, Ozzy, remember me?”-The bat.

The bat story and the reality show. That’s all I know about him.

Damn, at least he got in one last good show.

I saw him a number of times on his OzzFest and with Black Sabbath.

Saddened, but not surprised.

Damn good run, Ozzy. Sorry to see you go.

Crazy. But that’s how it goes. I’m glad he got to have a farewell performance before he went.

At 13 years old (around 1980), I remember looking through a dozen LPs someone had given me. The cover art on one of the albums really stood out. It was very eerie looking: it was a grainy photo of a witch (??) standing in front of a big old… house?. “Black Sabbath” was written on the photo in a curvy font. Just really mysterious looking. I thought, “Huh, I wonder what this is all about.” I put it on the turntable, and… wow. Had never heard anything like that in my life. Especially the singer. Just incredible. And then I heard their second album, and just… wow, again.

RIP to one of the best and most iconic rock singers ever.

I’m amazed he lived that long.

Ozzie Osbourne’s last show was July 5. He retired from performing live music after that (though he still planned to record things as I understand it).

17 days later, the guy passes away.

That’s a guy with dedication to rock and roll.

I’m similarly amazed it wasn’t the alcohol and drugs that did him in. Just medical complications you expect from old age.

Mama, He’s Coming Home.

RIP Ozzy

Oh yes, he does.

Close His Eyes Forever.

Let me also add a bit of personal stuff…

I am a fan of his music. Some of the earliest music I really enjoyed when I finally started really paying attention to music and listening to it repeatedly (CD/cassette tapes) was Black Sabbath.

I also watched some of his show The Osbournes, though that was very much a train wreck by design, one of those “point at laugh at these weirdos” kind of shows like the “Real Housewives” shows. I wasn’t the biggest fan of that.

But later on, when he and son Jack did the show Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour, I highly, highly recommend that. It shows a more human side to Ozzy, his love of history and travel, and they explored some really cool things on that show. I’ve watched every episode. It wasn’t “Ozzy the rock star”, it was “Ozzy the guy with different interests as he bonds with his son”. Also, I learned that Ozzy apparently liked ice cream more than any other human being I’ve ever seen. Very funny.

I truly am sad he passed away. He was responsible for a lot of entertainment for me throughout my life, both in music and on TV.

(Favorite Black Sabbath song is “The Wizard” for the record.)

Yeah, obviously it’s bad that he died, but for all the hard living he’s done, it’s pretty amazing that he made it to 76, still performing all up to the end. Lenny Kilmister only made it to 70, and many others not nearly that long. So Ozzy has a lot to be proud of, and I think he would be.

Wow. Shocking news…but not really surprising I suppose. At least he had one last hurrah with his peers and a worldwide audience. RIP.

I was never a fan of his music, but my kids sure were. My eldest went to a lot of his concerts over the years. That he made it to age 76 is some sort of miracle.

Black Sabbath was the headline show at a concert in Portland Oregon colsseum in the 70’s. The first band was awesome, might have been the original Montrose, I don’t remember. The second band was Mahogany Rush from Canada, not the more popular band that just went by Rush, even better.

Then Black Sabbath came out. They were soo fucked up they could not even play their instruments! Ozzie was able to stand and walked around the stage mumbling “we love you!” and such.

After about 5 minutes of this, people were headed for the exits, like the building was on fire. We had to sit and wait for a while before we also left. The aisles were so full of people leaving. The show was over before it even started, I would have wanted my money back but the first 2 groups were soo good. Never been a Ozzie fan since.
