Pagoo Autostarting AOL

My wife pays for Pagoo and so I have a copy of it on my computer as well as on hers. When I boot my computer, Pagoo automatically loads and starts AOL and then tries to access the web site, which is the wrong address for some reason.

Anyway, how do I get Pagoo to quit doing this? I can stop it from loading when Windows starts, but then I’d have to manually start it after logging on the Web (I’m on dial up obviously).

My wife says I fixed this problem for her on her computer, but if I did, I don’t remember how.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

That’s still around? I remember having that for a while in 1996.

What exactly is the undesired behaviour?
Pagoo loading on start-up?
Pagoo launching AOL?
Pagoo trying to connect to a defunct URL?

Incidentally, why don’t you just use AOL’s internet call waiting thing?

Anyway. Go through Pagoo’s user preferences/options/configuration and look for things like “automatically connect” or “check for messages on start-up”

The computer starts.
Pagoo loads at start up.
Pagoo starts AOL.
AOL dials up and connects to the Internet.
A Pagoo page, which is now apparently changed, tries to open, only to get the Can’t Find Page 504 error.

In pagoo Properties there’s 4 tabs. Identification, Appearance, Preferences, and Internet.

Identification-> Holds your Pagoo ID and Password.
Appearance-> Choose your Pagoo skin.
Preferences-> Set or un-set any of the following options-> Always on top, Pop up window on new message arrival, Automatic play, Sound, Non compressed voice message.

Always on top - Not set, won’t make a difference to my problem anyway.

Pop up window on new message arrive - Set. All that means is that if somebody calls while I’m on line and leaves a message, afterwards, pagoo will pop up to let me know I have a message waiting for me. I doubt it’s causing my problems, but I could try disabling it anyway just to be sure.

Automatic Play - Not set. I’m guessing this would play a message as soon as one is received with asking for permission first. But since this isn’t set, it can’t be the problem.

Sound - Set. It’s just the you’ve got a message chime. You can use the standard, or choose one of your own.

Non compressed voice message - Not set. Check if you cannot listen to your voice messages.

I seriously doubt any of these are the problem.

Internet - Give an HTTP proxy server Address and port if you’re behind a firewall. I do use Zone Alarm, but I’m leaving the Pagoo Internet info blank. It’s the same on my wife’s computer, so I’m sure that can’t be it either.

There’s the Edit Profile option from Pagoo, but a profile has nothing to do with autostarting AOL. I’ve looked at all of the options, none of them has an AOL autostart on off option.

Anyway, hopefully I’ll figure it out eventually.

Not found is 404. 504 is a timeout.

You could check the internet options under Windows. See if AOL is set as your default connection with a “Dial default connection when needed” type setting.

You might also want to try DLing a newer version of the Pagoo client.

How’d you settle on Pagoo, BTW?

Thanks, I’ll check those things out.

As for how I, or actually my wife settled on it… checking with my wife… She says at the time it was the only service like this she was aware of, and the prices seemed reasonable.
