Painfully mundane question about the Firefox search function.

Hi all.

I’ve noticed that the Firefox search function more often than not fails to find the words I specify, even when they are appear quite numerously and quite blatantly in the pages I am searching. I tried searching for the word gibbon in this Wikipedia entry but the search function failed to find one single incidence of it. Does anyone know why this is, or if there’s a plug-in I could install to fix it?

Thanks muchly.

I found lots of gibbons there with my Firefox; I think you are having a tech problem of the kind that can’t be diagnosed without the full list of specs (see the sticky at the top of this board).

Huh. I don’t have any advice. Just that it worked just fine for me on my Vista laptop with Firefox 2.0. We are talking about the search function that appears when you hit ctrl+f, right?

I have the same problem with my firefox, some days it just locks up. Eg if I try to find gibbon on that page, the next/previous options won’t work and it won’t highlight anything. However at the same time if I try to find ‘fgsgds’ it’ll show up red in the search box and beep, so the find is working, just not jumping to the place on the page.

It seems to either work on all pages, or fail on all pages. Seems to be working fine for me today.

Sorry I don’t have an answer.

No problem here with Firefox v2.0.0.9.

Sorry if this sounds patronizing, but are you sure that “match case” isn’t checked? You can sometimes check it accidentally, I don’t know if there is a key combination for this or if I occasionally click it accidentally.
